KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- MCA Youth Chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong regretted his expulsion from the MCA presidential council Wednesday and likened it to the Indonesian song "Madu dan Racun" (Honey and Poison).
"Each time a meeting is held, someone will certainly be expelled. I don't know, it has become like the Indonesian song...poison in your right palm, honey in your left palm, I don't know which one you're giving me (racun di tangan kananmu, madu di tangan kirimu, aku tak tahu yang mana engkau nak bagi padaku)," he said.
MCA Wanita head Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun was also expelled from the council.
Both Wee and Chew are supporters of vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and among the 16 MCA central committee (CC) members who requisitioned for the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on Nov 28 aimed at getting support for a fresh party election to be held.
"I consider this as something that has never occurred in the history of the MCA and this reflects the president's dictatorship, that he is only interested in choosing people who share his views," Wee, who is also the Deputy Education Minister, told reporters at the Parliament lobby here.
Wee also questioned the Greater Unity Plan (GUP) which was not reflected in the decision of the president to revamp the presidential council which was announced by president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Kiat after the central committee meeting.
He called on the delegates to come out in force to attend the EGM on Nov 28.
"I'm aware that the pressure is great and they had been influenced not to attend the EGM by declaring it as illegal in terms of the party's constitution," he said.
The MCA CC meeting today rejected the EGM on grounds that it breached the party constitution.
