IGP quit rumour: Cracks beginning to appear - Malaysiakini

COMMENT Are cracks beginning to appear in the politico-civil service complex that holds up the edifice of the Umno-dominated BN government?

The politico-civil service complex (corresponding to the military-industrial complex of President Eisenhower's description that referred to the web of business interests that impact governance in the United States) is the interface of interests that connect Umno's top brass with the top tier of the civil service that's supposed to run the country's administrative machinery.

Nobody pretends anymore that the latter is a professional entity, independent of ministerial-executives and loyal, in the crunch, to the state as distinct to the government of the day.

The distinction between the two estates – the elected ministerial executive branch and the professional civil service – was blurred during the Mahathir era to the debilitating detriment of both.

musa hassan pc 021107 mediaThe rumour that circulated late last week that inspector-general of police Musa Hassan had resigned his post, which he denied in comments that were not only ambiguous but ominous in its references to the “underground”, suggest that cracks are beginning to appear in the web of interests that connects Umno's upper crust and the civil service's luminaries.

Musa was quoted as wanting to know from where the word of his resignation had originated – whether from official channels or from the “underground”.

He said he felt sorry for the country if the story of his quitting, which he denied, had emanated from the underground.

Statements of such convolution cannot be reassuring, coming from this important a figure in the country's criminal justice system.

They reflect, nay they reinforce, a widespread perception that a patina of suspicion and mistrust clings to this politico-civil service complex, blurring the lines of responsibility and accountability that should demarcate the two estates and which justify their separate existence.

Dissension and rivalry

Elsewhere in the civil service, in the Attorney-General's Chambers, word has leaked of dissension and rivalry cleaving the top tier of command, making Musa's rumoured 'resignation' another distressing strand in the miasma of suspicion that envelops the politico-civil service complex.

Citizens don't believe the mainstream media's spin on the stories of dissonance coming out of this complex so that the assumption of rumours being taken to be fact, unless expressly proven otherwise, only serve to emphasise the baseness of it all.

Don't be surprised if one of these days, the entire complex will be rent by a mutiny launched by people whose nausea at what is going on prompts them to the kind of surgical action that led Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile, army chief and defense secretary respectively in the last days of the Marcos administration, to engineer a putsch in 1986 after what was regarded as an election that was stolen by the dictator.

The episode led to the downfall of Marcos, catalyzed by the action of personnel from within the edifice of government. Corrupt orders cannot be brought down by resistance from oppositionists alone.

This is not to say that something of a military nature will happen here in Malaysia, but an 'insurgency' by the still-decent remnant of the politico-civil service complex may well expedite the day of its downfall.

Ramli Yusuff: Still ready to serve

By Neville Spykerman - The Malaysian Insider

PETALING JAYA, March 15 — Once a cop, always a cop. And Datuk Ramli Yusuff (picture), who was acquitted of not disclosing his assets last week, intends to report for duty at Bukit Aman although he reached retirement age of 58 on March 1.

In the event he is told to retire, Ramli wants his pension, gratuity and all retirement benefits befitting his rank of Police Commissioner.

“I hope to meet the Home Minister before reporting in, to see what advice he gives me,” the Former Commercial Crimes Investigation Department Director told The Malaysian Insider last night after holding a doa selamat or thanksgiving prayers at his Petaling Jaya home.

Ramli explained that he was informed he would be suspended until his case was over after he was charged on Nov 2, 2007 for not disclosing information about his assets.

“So I am still a police officer and I have to report. It is up to government to decide if I should continue (on contract) or retire.

“I want a proper send off, because I know I was fixed,” Ramli said, citing legal constraints when declining to elaborate on his case.

He pointed out that the judgment for his case was supposed to have been delivered on Feb 24 but was somehow delayed till last Friday.

“Had I been acquitted on Feb 24, I would have reported in the very next day.”

The veteran police officer was charged with failing to declare ownership of 20,000 Telekom Malaysia Berhad shares, 154,000 Permaju Industries Berhad shares and interest in two office properties worth RM1,032,840.

He was also charged separately in the Kota Kinabalu Sessions court for allegedly using police aircraft to view two pieces of property in which he was alleged to have had an interest in.

That case also ended in an acquittal for Ramli last July 27 after Sessions Court Judge Supang Lian ruled that, “The prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case and the accused deserves to be acquitted and discharged.’’

The prosecution is appealing both cases.

“What are they trying to prove? Haven’t I been through enough? Why do they need to appeal?” he asked.

Having served the force with distinction, the police veteran pointed out that both cases could have been handled internally by the police disciplinary board.

“Instead they choose to play with my life after 38-year-of service. They should not have treated me like this,” Ramli said.

He lamented that as senior police officer, former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi could have just called him but that courtesy was not extended to him.

“Pak Lah was the Home Minister, I was third most senior police officer in the force, he could have at least called me and I could have explained,” he said, using the popular dimunitive for the former premier.

Ramli, who has a law degree, pointed out he was the longest serving Investigating Officer that has served both the Criminal and Commercial Crime Investigation Departments.

Among his top cases was the Jean Pereira murder, where the court allowed a conviction based on circumstantial evidence for the first time.

He added his investigation diary for the case is now a manual for police officers in training.

He pointed out that even Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan had once served directly under him for six years.

Ramli was deputy director of the CID at the time while Musa was head of prosecution.

“At one time, I treated him like my own brother. I never expected this sort of treatment.”

As for the future, Ramli said he has to rebuild his life and reputation from scratch.

“I hope they let me live in peace to do it,” he added.

Dozens of serving and retired police officers, among them former Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Dell Akbar Khan attended the doa selamat prayers last night.

Nithyananda Sex Scandal - Swami's first public response

The Times of Indian, Mar 14 2010

HARIDWAR: Claiming that he was in a trance when the sleaze video — telecast by TV channels recently — was being recorded, Nithyananda Paramahamsa, in an exclusive interview to Times Now in Haridwar on Saturday, neither denied nor confirmed that it was him on the tape.

The 33-year-old godman said he was ''in a state of samadhi (trance)'' when the video, showing him in a compromising position with an actress, was taken. The tape, he said, had been ''misinterpreted, morphed and manipulated.'' He alleged that the media onslaught on him was without any basis and that he was being held guilty without a trial.

Was that you in the sleaze tape?

There's a lot of misinterpretation, manipulation and morphing. Now, we are working to find out which part was recorded and which was manipulated. When that video was taken, I was in a state of trance. My personal life has been misrepresented and my privacy has been invaded. Media has even taken pictures of me when I am changing my clothes after a bath. This has been done to defame me.

It is being said that the tape was taken in December 2009? Were you sick then?

I was sick for a very long time. Consciously, I was in a samadhi... physically I was not well. Some of the things have been misinterpreted by the onlookers. Or rather it has been misinterpreted by those who wanted to do it.

Has life changed for you in the last two weeks?

In the thirty-three years of my life I have seen fame. I was the most watched guru on YouTube. Now, in the last few days I have been the most watched scandal. Both have taught me many things about life. But what shocked me most is the thought that there is so much enmity against me. The good thing from all this is I am getting millions of emails, phone calls and a flood of support from people who are not even my devotees. My disciples are feeling so bad that someone's private life has been misinterpreted and abused.

Was the actress in your ashram then?

She has been serving me for a very long time. She was volunteering to take care of me when I was sick. All her family members have been my devotees. There is no denying that she is a devotee.

Do you think it's because of stand-off with people in power?

I don't have any political ambition. I did not fight with anybody. I don't want to disrespect anyone.

June 3 date for ‘Allah’ in CDs case

By Clara Chooi - The Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 — Melanau Christian Jill Ireland Lawrence Bill’s challenge against the Home Ministry’s decision to confiscate eight compact discs containing the word ‘Allah’ will now be heard on June 3 for case management, the High Court ruled today.

High Court Deputy Registrar Halilah Suboh set the date today after meeting the 29-year-old clerk’s lawyer Annou Xavier and Senior Federal Counsel Andi Razalijaya A. Dadi, who is representing the respondents.

Annou told reporters later that it was his hope for the matter to be settled together with the government’s appeal on the controversial High Court ruling allowing Catholic weekly Herald to use the word “Allah” in its publication.

“They are both connected matters and I am afraid of the implications that would affect the Herald matter, should this case be unsuccessful,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

He noted that the appeal on the Herald decision was still pending at the Court of Appeal.

Jill Ireland’s case is expected to yet another to be closely scrutinised by all quarters, especially in view of the furore that the Herald’s case had sparked off.

The case had not only resulted in the spate of violent attacks on churches and other religious praying grounds nationwide, it had also widened the rift between supporters of both ends of the nation’s political spectrum and caused much uproar among Muslims and non-Muslims.

Another dispute over the “Allah” word is also pending in court between the Home Ministry and Sidang Injil Borneo who is suing the ministry for seizing six boxes of Christian educational publications containing the word “Allah” in 2007.

The case has been fixed on April 30 to allow all parties to reach an out-of-court settlement.

In Jill’s case, the Sarawakian is seeking for an order of certiorari to quash the ministry’s decision to seize the CDs, and a mandamus order directing the minister to return the CDs. She filed her application on Aug 20, 2008 and was granted leave to seek judicial review of the Home Ministry’s decision on May 4 last year.

She is also seeking a declaration that she has the legitimate expectation to exercise the right to use the word “Allah” and to continue to own and import such materials.

The disputed materials were confiscated from Jill’s possession after she disembarked at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal in Sepang on May 11 upon returning from a flight from Indonesia.

In a letter on July 7 the same year, the Home Ministry explained its move, which was exercised under Section 9(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act, saying that the religious materials were a threat to national security and had also breached the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) guidelines as it used prohibited words.

The CD titles include ‘Cara Hidup Dalam Kerajaan Allah’, ‘9ara Menggunakan Kunci Kerajaan Allah’, ‘Ibadah Yang Benar Dalam Kerajaan Allah’ and ‘Hidup Benar Dalam Kerajaan Allah’.
Jill had contended that she uses the word “Allah” in her prayers, worship and religious education, and that the CDs were for personal consumption.

Freedom of speech should not be abused, says King

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal - The Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 — The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin said today that freedom of speech should not be exploited to distort the truth at the expense of “flaming conflict and inciting racial sentiments.”

The King, in his royal address to Parliament, pointed out that while freedom of speech is a feature of a democratic and mature society, it should not be used to demean others.

“We are very much disappointed that there are parties within and outside the country who take advantage to exploit the situation at the expense of public order and national dignity.”

“We call upon all parties to learn a lesson from the dark episode in our history and avoid from stirring sensitive issues that may risk public order and harmony,” said the King.

Tuanku Mizan also pointed out that distortion of facts in some newspaper reports were still evident, and urged the authorities to take action.

“We are also disappointed that slander, lies and distortion of facts still prevail, especially in the new media. All parties involved must realise that no religion condones such actions. We urge them to cease committing these irresponsible acts. At the same time, the authorities must take stern actions against those involved.”

In addition, the Agong also maintained that unity between the many races and religious groups in Malaysia must be preserved, and that only through mutual respect and cooperation will there be a peaceful society.

“The position of Islam as the religion of the federation, while other religions are free to be practiced must be respected. We call upon all religious leaders to instil a sense of responsibility to maintain religious harmony among the followers of the respective religions,” said the King.

Tuanku Mizan also congratulated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his administration for successfully implementing various programmes for the well-being of Malaysians for the past 11 months, since he took over the helm of the government.

“We welcome the 1Malaysia concept, People First, Performance Now, premised on the Federal Constitution. Our Government has identified 6 National Key Result Areas or NKRAs to be achieved, which are, widening the access to quality and affordable education, improving the poublic transport, combating corruption, reducing the crime rate, expanding rural infrastructure and raising the standard of living of the low income group...The people, therefore should work together with Our Government to ensure the success of this programme,” said Tuanku Mizan, giving his stamp of approval on the Najib administration.

Some of the other key issues which were touched on during the speech were on the economy, and how Malaysia was slowly moving out of the global economic crisis.

Noting that subsidies in 2009 alone cost RM24.5 billion, the Agong stressed that the amount last year had benefited not only the low-income group, but also the rich and foreigners.

“These subsidies will be restructured and gradually reduced. However, target groups like the vulnerable groups will continue to be assisted in order to lessen their burden. In this regard, We call upon the people to be far-sighted and ready to accept the change.”

Khir Toyo: Give Najib a chance

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal - The Malaysian Insider

KLANG, March 15 — Malaysians must give Datuk Seri Najib Razak a chance as his administration’s recent policy U-turns proved he is an open-minded leader focused on the people’s welfare, former Selangor Umno chief Datuk Seri Mohd Khir Toyo (picture) said.

The Selangor opposition chief asserted last night that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has been using lies and untruths to attack Najib’s leadership.

“Let’s give a chance for Datuk Seri Najib to make a change. He is very open-minded. For example, a lot of the issues that I have raised in my blog, Najib has taken note and attended to,” Khir told a Kota Raja Umno division ceramah here.

Among the issues that the former Selangor mentri besar claimed to have raised in his blog is the implementation the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as well as the two-tier petrol pricing system.

“On the GST, I have said for a long time now don’t at once implement the four per cent tax, it is not cheap, the poor will suffer. Also, I have commented on the two-tier petrol system using MyKad, where it is going to be more troublesome than good.”

“Alhamdulillah, the GST implementation has been delayed. You see, Najib listens. He does this for the rakyat, he won’t make any hasty or rash decisions. This is the kind of leader that we want. Give Najib a chance,” he added applause from some 300-odd people, mostly Umno loyalists who had attended the ceramah.

Khir’s remarks come amid Najib’s recent appeal last Friday to party members and grassroots leaders to support his reforms, amid signs that some of his administration’s moves to free up the economy and reverse the budget deficit have been bogged down by a lack of public support.

In an address to the party’s information chiefs in Janda Baik, Pahang, the Umno president urged members to give him “solid” support to implement his administration’s policies.

The Najib Administration has been hit by a number of apparent policy U-turns, the latest being pulling out the unpopular GST Bill from a second reading in the current Parliament sitting.

The government was also forced to call off a complicated two-tier fuel subsidy system and last December it retracted an unpopular five per cent real property gains tax (RPGT), proposed in Budget 2010, for properties sold after five years.

Najib, whose popularity ratings remains above 60 per cent among Malaysian voters, has seen some of his push for reforms, in particular his proposed New Economic Model (NEM), hit by criticisms from even among party faithful that are concerned that freeing up the economy will not be in the interests of Malays.

Najib, who was formally elected party president on March 26, 2009, will celebrate his first year as prime minister next April 3.

Khir, who lost Selangor to PR in Election 2008, also took the opportunity for a quick jab at PR, emphasising how the welfare of the people, especially Malays in the state, was not being cared for.

“Look at what’s happening in Selangor. You have elected representatives like Ng Sue Lim who is alleged to have been drunk when he knocked a university student .. .what has happened to the student’s welfare? No one knows.

“At the same time, when Teoh Beng Hock dies, his family gets RM50,000 ... this is what they mean by equality, their so-called struggle,” said Khir.

PR lawmakers have claimed Khir, a dentist by profession, had abused state firms and facilities for personal gain with family trips to Disneyland in the United States and building a palatial mansion despite being mentri besar for just a few years.

He has denied the allegations and has been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Our ‘rempitised’ education system

My definition: Rempitism (noun; also concept and ideology borrow from the neo-Malay word rempit) - a Malaysian phenomenon in which youth uses the public road system to break the speed limit with customised motorbikes in illegal, past-midnight drag-races that rob the restful sleep of peaceful citizens; a phenomena akin to a capitalist economy of a struggling showcasing Third Word nation such a Malaysia that hypermodernises beyond the ability of its people to cope with its sensationalised designs of ‘economic miracles’.

A REPUBLIC OF VIRTUE

Azly Rahman

on facebook: http://www.facebook.compeople/AzlyRahman/689079971
on blog: http://azlyrahman-illuminations.blogspot.com/

Both phenomena rest upon idiotic pride and arrogance that endanger a peaceful, ethical and sustainable future. Both present clear and present danger on the equally dangerous highway of globalisation. See also rempitise (adjective) and Mat Rempit (special noun).

A ‘rempitised’ economic and education system ‘rams’ human beings into different ‘pits’ (hence the term ‘rempit’) of the conveyer belt of the capitalist production system; creating what looks like a natural progression of meritocracy in education and social evolution. The foundation of this system is neo-colonialism, structural violence and the alienation of labour.

(Note: Like participants in the global rat race, Mat Rempit always want to finish first in the deadly race and be the first to do a wheelie for the world to see.)

Is our public education system failing? Is it producing more and more Mat Rempit, Anak Abu (anak-anak angkatan bawah usia), bohsia (bawah usia or the under-aged girls), bohjan (jantan bawah usia or under-aged males), gangsta rappers, hip-hoppers and youth alienated and put at-risk by our education system?

Are we creating class systems in education the way we have created varying types of classrooms that correspond to different classes in society? Why are we seeing the tuition industry becoming a billion-ringgit business, helping our children memorising more and more but understanding less and less of what they learn?

Do we have people in the education ministry well versed enough in analysing the phenomenon of our rempitised economy (speeding it up illegally) and how this is directly related to how we are ‘schooling’ our society?

Do we now have an entire system of higher education inheriting the children of our rempitised economy and contributing to the low quality of graduates - who cannot think critically and are always subjected to the whims and fancies of a totalitarian regime only interested in tightening the stranglehold on our universities?

British and American scholars like Paul Willis, Henry Levin, Peter McLaren and Martin Carnoy who studied the phenomena of schooling in capitalist societies observed the nature of the learning process in countries in which the rapid and unreflective industrialisation and post-industrialisation process have created one-dimensional citizens out of youth.

Schooling teaches these children to become good and obedient workers in a economic system that reduce the larger population into labour, while enriching the upper class into people and property-owners in a rempitised economy.

What’s lacking in teachers

Is our education ministry training teachers well in urban education and in the schooling of our at-risk youth? Do we actually know the root cause of rempitism and gangsterism in schools, and are we able to design better learning systems for those who are already marginalised and left behind by our rempitised economy?

I have a sense that the cases of gangsterism and bullying of teachers will continue to increase. More private schools will be built and Malaysians will lose confidence in their public schools. More private schools mean more divisions in society. The rich will produce better schools and the poor will be left behind in this rempitised system we have all created in the name of the New Economic Policy.

Teachers do not have the necessary concepts and skills to deal not only with the Millennial children (high-tech, high gadgetry, low attention span, low school-tolerance) but also the rempitised children who have low skills of reading, writing and computing.

Children left behind will be those who become Mat and Minah Rempit. They will be destructive to the classroom process and will translate their social anger into counter-productive and destructive activities. These are the ones who will be made criminals as a result of an uncaring education system that criminalises the human mind by placing unmotivated, uncreative and unprepared teachers to develop the untapped geniuses in our classrooms.

Should we rename the Mat and Minah Rempit as Mat Cemerlang (Excellent/Glorious Ones) as suggested by an Umno leader? Should we build a racing circuit for them to continue drag racing?

I do not think we should. I think those who propose such names and measures of glorification need radical counseling and education on the meaning of education. I think it shows a clear lack of understanding of the root of the problem. Wrong diagnosis of social ill.

Rehabilitation programme

I think we should beef up the highway police force and stop illegal drag racing, round up the Mat Rempit and send them for six-month rehabilitation in rempit camps near Perlis, guarded by graduates of the National Service. We should build a somewhat safe motor-cross clearings/zones and let them drag-race happily in these areas until they are exhausted.

In between these sessions we ought to give them a good and safe motorcycle education so that they will understand what it means to ride safely and not endanger the life of others. We can have the Biro Tata Negara write the module so that good indoctrination programmes will be used more on these rempitised and rempitising youth instead of those who do not need to be indoctrinated into any form of totalitarianism.

Peace-loving, rest-needing, night-sleeping citizens affected by the activities of rempitism will appreciate this radical programme of reconfiguring the mind of the rempitised youth.

How to de-rempitise our schools

In the meantime, how do we deal with the leadership of the public education system? We need to start by selecting only those who are well-versed in the entire spectrum of education.

We have ministers, educational experts, specialists and educational representatives who either have minimal classroom experience or none at all - let alone have much-needed knowledge in the history, theory, post-structurality and possibilities of education.

We place them in this ministry based on political considerations. They mess things up and show their inability to understand where our youth are heading, or how to design an education system good enough to reflect the dream we have - a dream of a just, equitable, environmentally sustainable, intellectual and ethical society.

We are more concerned with having our students and teachers pledge blind loyalty to the signs and symbols of power; one-dimensional thinking; and politically correct behaviour instead of developing, celebrating and further grooming good teachers who can radicalise the minds of the youth of tomorrow.

We force our university students to ceremoniously recite the Pledge of Loyalty, and round on those who protest against corruption and social injustice.

We do this against the backdrop of our speeded-up, hypermodernised economy - one we rempitised in the name of the New Economic Policy.

The question for us now is: how do we de-rempitise our society?

It’s a rape of my character, says Yen Yen

This is a true story regarding our Minister of Tourism Dato Sri Ng Yen Yen (NYY).

By Malaysia New Kid On Blog

The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia have a budget for “Media Campaign” to promote Malaysia on tourism. This budget is called in the Ministry as Media Global Fund. The previous Minister of Tourism Dato Azalina which set up a company that was given a contract to handle the Minister of Tourism's advertising for her own benefit. The same tactic is now use by NYY. She joint venture with one company called Sen Media Sdn. Bhd. and instruct other media to join this company to get contract.

The Managing Director of this company is Ruzi bin Ahmad who is also NYY’s son good friend. NYY’s son met media owners like BBC, STARTV, CNBC, ESPN, National Geographic, Phoenix HK, and Discovery Channel to negotiate and asked for 30% commission. The total budget for this campaign is RM 33 Million, and NYY’s son seeks a total commission around RM 10 Million from them.

Dato Mirza can confirm with this dealing, as the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia suppose to meet on 3rd April to start the media campaign and conclude by end of April, but NYY need to push this deal fast. NYY pressured Dato Mirza to carry forward the meeting to 9th March and starts the program by 15th March.

Due to the current situation, especially in MCA’s situation, NYY need to use the money for personal gain during the MCA’s current turmoil. For readers’ pondering, why should NYY need to move forward the campaign to 15th March 2010 and instruct her office to award the contract urgently so hasty? Why not evaluate other companies and follow the process?

NEP Destroying Indians and Chinese

It is disgusting to see that the bumiputeras must be given handicaps (NEP/30% equity and what not) so that they can be allowed to trample on us.

By Annamalai a/l Muthupalaniyappan, Penang

I refer to RPK's article "the long and winding road". The government policies and NEP has tarnished the image of the country. It has also encouraged other Malays to destroy the Indians and Chinese minorities. It has encouraged the Malays in high pwered positions to only give oppotunities and approvals to other Malays (and leaving out the Chinese and Indians). It has given the impression of wanting to get rid of the Indians and Chinese.

(My once wealthy family is now broke because of the government policies and its rules and regulations). A land matter (44 acres) which concerned my family, together with these rules and regulations imposed by the Malaysian government, ended up destroying my family over 14 years or since 1973.

We ended up paying taxes and fines and we could not develop our own lands because of an army ammunition depot placed beside our lands. But other lands belonging to bumiputeras in the same vicinity were given approval for development, an area highly populated by 95% Malays (although they were not supposed to be approved). It is disgusting to see that the bumiputeras must be given handicaps (NEP/30% equity and what not) so that they can be allowed to trample on us.

BN/UMNO is doing what Hitler did to the Jews and we are the target today (the Indians and the Chinese).

It all sums up that the easy way is never the right way. For Mahahtir to think the idea of spreading it out among the Malays is worse than making 100 billionaires says a lot more about this selfish ,cunning & vengeful ultra opportunist. Not the least surprising he had made his children billionaires and millionaires in his life time. The NEP, benefiting men- crafted definition of race, is a gross violation of human decency. It continuously adds new comers: children of new immigrants(including illegal) who qualify for this privileged man crafted race definition while excluding the 3rd ,4th,the descendants of citizens who also fought for independence ,served the Malayan and Malaysian armed forces and in other vital and essential sectors of government are excluded from qualifying for this race- crafted definition. A spade is a spade, therefore if religion is not the major criteria one should be considered lying to his teeth. The revised NEM should reduce the arrogance that is prevalent in the NEP. It s a never ending cry for more when it is offered on a golden platter,at the expense of the more deserving poor.. It got to be NEM that is not race or religion based, but on haves and "have-nots".

You are going about it the wrong way .....

See this KKN person and tell him you want (Malay) justice. Ask him permission to allow you to build an army hostel, hospital or hotel etc on your land and ask the army to buy it from you at a premium. They have a lot of money.

Then go buy a land somewhere else that youa re happy with ..... this is how we used to solve it. Not like this ...... not now !!!! smilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gif

Correction, the NEP is not only destroying Indians and Chinese, but Malays also. Only those Malays who are close to UMNO benefits. The kampong folks only get pittance. At the end of the day, the Malays need to depend on subsidies. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.

Of 2nd Hand Gen-Sets & 2nd Class Fixed-Deposits

While our fellow Malaysians in Peninsular Malaysia are enjoying the luxury of un-interrupted power, WE Sabahans, on the other hand, continue to be marginalized as second class citizens and condemned to living in darkness. Forty-seven ( 47) years after the formation of Malaysia, Sabah still needs to "BEG" for development, which should be rightfully and duly provided. Foreign Investors as well as tourists are devastated that a state rich in natural resources, Petroleum, Timber and Palm Oil among other things is the poorest state in Malaysia.

The latest fiasco in Sabah is the discovery of second-hand generator sets, installed and commissioned by Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB). Hundreds of millions are claimed to have been spent by the Federal Government. Ironically, after all the hoo-ha, Sabah gets 2nd hand sets. What an insult! Yet, imagine, the BN goons want Sabah to be their ever-dependable “fixed-deposit”. More insult!

Ordinary Sabahans are forced to swallow all the excuses, hoodwinks and bull-shit. It was a big surprise that the State Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Datuk Dr.Yee Moh Chai came out to ask the Managing Director of SESB, Baharin Din, to tender his resignation for failing to address the power woes in the state. It's rather amusing that Yee Moh Chai has unfurled his imaginary wings by portraying himself as an angel. Nevertheless, well done Dr. Yee. I suggest that if action is not taken against Baharin, the Minister resign his job to show he is sincere and means business.

To add insult to injury, Federal Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Peter Chin has vowed to resign by December 2010 if he fails to reduce Sabah's System Average Interruption Duration Index(Saidi) from 2,780 minutes per subscriber to 700 minutes per subscriber. This kind of political rhetoric - resignations or sabbatical leave are stone-age tactics. All these might well be a political ploy in forcing a coal-fired power plant down the throats of Sabahans.

And what stupidity .... with all the latest technology available and all the big and bold talk about "PRODUKTIVITI" , "MALAYSIA BOLEH" & "1MALAYSIA", …… the entire Federal and State Government has miserably failed Sabahans. Maybe someone forgot to inform these politicians that this is the 21st Century. Stop fooling the rakyat. A leader bears the responsibility of earning the respect of the people, not forcefully demanding it.

Looks like our political leaders’ wish is to become ‘emperors’.

In the process of being elected to run the government, we let our leaders gain control of the state’s ideological apparatuses and we let them own the Fourth Estate (the media). And that makes it easy for them to feed us with political propaganda and bull-shit daily. We let these ‘emperors’ portray themselves as bigger than life which is mere fallacy.

We have allowed our leaders to become autocrats and even kleptocrats.

But 47 years is a long time, too long a time. We cannot allow the situation to continue … NO, We cannot allow this mafiosos to continue to spill verbal diarrhea and pillage the nation.

The time has come and it is NOW - to make that inevitable change. The future generation's very existence depends very much on what you and I decide today.

Sabahans: It is time to speak up. The truth is undeniable, it is so evident.
