KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Wanita MCA Chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, who was dropped from the presidential council Wednesday, will be appointed as an invited member of the council as she is in-charge of women issues, said MCA information chief, Senator Heng Seai Kie.
Heng, who is also the Wanita MCA secretary-general said with the appointment of Chew under the invited member category, Wanita representatives in the presidential council would be increased to three compared to two previously.
MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat today announced the appointment of nine people from among the 10 party central committee members to the Presidential Council, including Heng and Tan Cheng Liang from Wanita MCA.
The others are Datuk Lee Chee Leong, Datuk Ti Lian Ker, Datuk Loke Yuen Yow, Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho, Gan Peng Sieu, Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and Wong Hock Aun.
Previously Heng and Lee were appointed to the presidential council as invited members.
"Since Chew Mei Fun will be appointed as an invited member of the council, this means our (Wanita MCA) representation will be increased in the presidential council," she told Bernama in an sms message here today.
