Sanjeevan expected to start speaking in 48 hours

MyWatch chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan is expected to be able to start talking within 48 hours, having shown signs of recovery after undergoing a crucial surgery last week to remove a bullet that was lodged in his ribcage for 18 days.

NONESanjeevan had the ventilator removed from his mouth for the first time in his three weeks in hospital today, his father P Ramakrishnan told Malaysiakini.

"The ventilator is now placed on his throat," said Ramakrishnan.

The operation to remove the ventilator took place at 1pm this afternoon.

As a result of this afternoon’s surgery, Sanjeevan could finally start to eat and drink through his mouth, his father said.

NONE"But he still needs a couple more days before he can talk," Ramakrishnan (left) added.

Sanjeevan last week underwent surgery to remove the bullet that had been lodged in his ribcage since he was shot on July 27 by two men on a motorcycle in Jempol, Negri Sembilan.

The bullet slug retrieved from his body has been sent to the police forensics in Cheras.

Meanwhile, Ramakrishnan and MyWatch adviser S Gobikrishnan will both meet KL Criminal Investigations Department (CID) chief Hadi Ho Abdullah at the Bukit Aman police headquarters tomorrow afternoon to get more details on Sanjeevan's shooting case.

Police are yet to arrest anyone over to the shooting.
