Khairy gets death threat over Umno Youth rally

The message threatens to slaughter Umno Youth members who participate in the July 9 gathering to oppose the Bersih rally.

SEPANG: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has received a death threat through the short messaging service (sms) early today which was directed at Umno Youth members intending to participate in a gathering planned on July 9.

The message was received at 12.18am today and sent from an unidentified number.

The message included a threat to “slaughter” Umno Youth members who are seen at the gathering.

Speaking to reporters at the KL International Airport here today, Khairy said Umno Youth secretary, Megat Firdouz Megat Junid, who also received a similar death threat, would lodge a police report on the matter.

Meanwhile, Megat Firdouz, when contacted, said he had lodged a police report on the death threat at the Putrajaya police station at 12.15pm today.

Prior to this, chairman of the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections, S Ambiga, also received a death threat via the text message, over a gathering being planned on the same day.
