Sabah Umno Committed To Cooperate With State BN Components

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Sabah Umno has always given its full cooperation to the Chief Minister who represents the other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties under the previous rotation system for the post of Chief Minister, said Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

Musa, who is the Chief Minister and State Umno Liaison chairman and State BN chairman, hoped the other BN component parties would also give similar support to the Chief Minister from Umno.

Musa, 59, was appointed Sabah's 14th Chief Minister on March 27, 2003, replacing Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat, who was then president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), under the rotation system for the post of Chief Minister.

"We in the Barisan Nasional should have mutual understanding between one another. We work on consensus and Umno always cooperates with the other BN component parties," he told reporters after attending a ceremony to give out alms at the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque at Likas, here Sunday.

He said this when asked to comment on a statement by the LDP deputy president, Datuk Chin Su Phin, who continued to question his leadership.

In his statement on Tuesday, Chin was reported to have said that the LDP could no longer work with Musa but would continue to support and cooperate with Umno and expressed full support to the Prime Minister and his 1Malaysia Concept.

Yesterday, Sabah Umno Liaison deputy chairman Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said Keruak claimed that there were LDP leaders who were collaborating with certain groups to topple the Chief Minister.

Salleh was also quoted as saying that the group planned to ask Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to drop Musa as the Sabah BN chairman.
