Mother Of Murdered Child Given Police Bail

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 (Bernama) -- The mother and the mother's friend, of a nine-year-old girl who was found dead, half-naked, strangled and floating, in a flood catchment pond in Kampung Boyan, Lorong Gurney, Jalan Semarak on Dec 22 were Monday freed on police bail.

Sentul police district chief, Asst Commissioner Zakaria Pagan, said another person believed to be the boyfriend of the victim's mother was released on police bail on Dec 31.

"The brother-in-law of the victims's mother will be given bail tomorrow (Jan 5), while the elder brother of the victim is still being detained for further investigation," he told Bernama via a short-message-service (SMS) communication today.

Zakaria also said an official Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test was not ready and the body of the child would be collected by the her mother at a date to be determined later.

The girl's body was found by three Kuala Lumpur City Hall workers when they were cleaning out the pond at about 11.30am on Dec 22.
