Eurocopter whistleblower Zahar joins Pas

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 — Retired armed forces captain Datuk Abu Zahar Hashim who exposed tender process discrepancies in the RM1.6 billion Eurocopter deal has joined opposition Parti Islam SeMalaysia (Pas) today.

He also spoke out at the function, claiming 28 Umno branch leaders and 13 division committee members will join Pas.

At a function held in a hotel in Ampang, Zahar submitted his Pas application to the party vice president Nasharuddin Mat Isa.

The former Umno Petaling Jaya Selatan division leader was suspended as division leader after he criticised the Umno leadership, which included Prime Mnister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
