It is extensively informed that a sudden UMNO Supreme Council is meeting now to discuss on various important issues. It is reported that the meeting that commenced at 10.20am at PWTC witness both top leaders, UMNO President Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Deputy President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak having a private important meeting before meeting the top 25 top UMNO leaders to discuss on current important issues that UMNO is facing now.
Will UMNO President Datuk Seri Abdullah depart much earlier than his scheduled departure of 2010?
Of late there has been many criticism raised by many top UMNO leaders that it is too late since Datuk Seri Abdullah is considered a 'lame duck' and losing popularity among the top leaders and the rakyat with his slow and failed policies and projects.
Another issue is to defer the UMNO General Assembly scheduled in December this year to sometime in June next year so that the current tense situation where demands are made for the exit of PM Datuk Seri Abdullah to do so by then had been proposed. By deferring the UMNO General Assembly, Datuk Seri Abdullah can remain in 'power' and expect a miracle to happen which will rebuild his confidence among UMNO leaders and the rakyat.
UMNO is currently faced by numerous internal crisis and the recent crackdown of ISA and the 'double practice' of using ISA has tarnish the UMNO and BN government leaders. UMNOputras have 'escaped' detention from ISA to calm the already crisis ridden UMNO.
But whatever the stand UMNO Supreme Council will take, the real issues will need a few days to be reveal. It was noted that during the last UMNO Supreme Council meeting, UMNO top leaders had demanded UMNO President and PM Datuk Seri Abdullah during the meeting to resign as soon as possible so that UMNO could dominate the government since the Opposition Pakatan Rakyat had according to them have gained the confidence of lawmakers to form the next federal government.
If this occurs, UMNO will face its ultimate 'demise' if this 'power' is lost. UMNO which dominates BN has been having this 'supreme power' for the last 51 years and had been dictating their policies which of late had raised public scrutiny.
One thing is certain, UMNO and BN has lost its reputation and credibility with the rakyat and UMNOputras.
