UMNO AGM FIXED IN MARCH 2009

The UMNO Supreme Council that met this morning had fixed the UMNO General Assembly in March 2009 despite their earlier decision to hold it in December this year. UMNO President and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced this after chairing the meeting.

Datuk Seri Abdullah inform that branch and divisional meetings will commence as schedule from October 9.

When pressed by reporters whether he will continue to retain his President's post, Datuk Seri Abdullah refuse to comment. There are speculations that Datuk Seri Abdullah would not be able to gain the required 58 nominations and to avoid any further embarrassment, he had been requested to quit. If that is the case, the transition of power will start sometime next month.

While during the press conference, Datuk Seri Abdullah was fumbling for words but was at most occasion assisted by his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

This has given speculation that some form of heated arguments had taken place and UMNO is facing a serious internal crisis. The other leaders refused to comment at this moment, but soon we will know what had happened.
