This statement is to provide certain clarity on various speculations
& questions posed towards me recently by the media and public.
The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak has appointed me primarily to oversee the often forgotten, longstanding, thorny issues affecting the Malaysian Indian community and to resolve them, permanently in line with his Economic Transformation Program.
I am in the Prime Minister’s current administration solely for the purpose of achieving what has been spelled out in the Hindraf- BN blueprint which the Barisan Nasional has agreed to implement when both sides inked the Memorandum of Understanding.
We arrived at the nation’s administrative capital without fear or favor in undertaking the above onerous task to achieve our objectives as we are not career politicians but Human rights advocates with a specific focus to uplift the poor and underclass.
Similarly without fear and favour, we stepped into Putrajaya with genuine and sincere intention to take concrete corrective action and if our attempted actions remain futile without any benefit for the community due to direct and indirect obstacles blocking our path, then I am ready to resign.
Looking at the Indian condition where sections of the community are downtrodden, Hindraf – the grassroots movement that I lead – sought to speak for them so that the voiceless poor and marginalized will be heard by our government.
Hence my foremost responsibility and accountability in assuming office is to ensure that Hindraf’s efforts are collectively focused on a genuine and urgent attempt to lay a path towards a permanent solution to the problems that have plagued the Indian community for far too long.
I did not come to Putrajaya for the sake of power nor is the position of any significance to me if I am unable to deliver.
My sole purpose and objective is to put into action the Hindraf- BN blueprint, and if I feel that we are unable to contribute constructively, while remaining within the establishment in redressing the Indian community woes, then the public can be assured that I shall not remain a minute longer in my current position.
Thank you.
