According to Bernama, the victim, Amirul Tajo Nasir 40, died at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian at 1.20pm today.
The incident took place at 5.15am when Amirul was having a drink with two friends at a stall in Kampung Gong Mengkeleh, Pasir Puteh.
Two men in helmets and black jacket on a Yamaha motorcycle LC had approached Amirul when he was paying for his food.
"The motorcycle's pillion rider reportedly release several shots at Amirul from the motorcycle from a distance of about two metres," Kelantan police chief Mazlan Lazim was quoted as saying.
An unnamed relative of Amirul was quoted as saying that the latter was hit by seven bullets including on the chest and buttocks.
Mazlan said 10 bullet shells were retrieved from the crime scene.
Amirul leaves behind a seven-year-old daughter.
In the incident, stall owner Norhadiana Zakaria, who was collecting money from Amirul, was also hit by a stray bullet in the knee.
She was warded at Hospital Tengku Anis, Pasir Puteh for treatment.
Police say the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
