Nicol Retains World Series Title For Second Time

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's seven- time world squash champion, Datuk Nicol Ann David swept aside homester, Laura Massaro in the finals of the 2012 World Series Finals held at The Queen's Club in London, Sunday.

It was Nicol's second win in the World Series Finals.

The match was their second consecutive meet after the World Open championship in Cayman Islands last month.

Nicol started off her game brilliantly by controlling the first and second sets with 11-3 and 11-2.

The third set was more tense for both players compared to the first two sets in the game which took 37 minutes.

Although Laura conquered the first half of the third set, the world number one put up a strong challenge to seal the game with 11-9.

"In the third set, Laura was a bit aggressive but I was fortunate to win it 3-0," said Nicol as interviewed by SkySport TV.
