Anwar Ibrahim today played down talks of tension between the 'original' Sabah PKR members and allies of Wilfred Bumburing and Lajim Ukin.
PETALING JAYA: Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim today dismissed reports that talks were not going well with former Sabah chief minister Yong Teck Lee’s Sabah Progressive People’s (SAPP) party.
He said Pakatan Rakyat, which he leads, has been “more successful with SAPP” as there has been a more active process of negotiations and “they have been attending our joint meetings”.
Anwar’s comments contradict a report on Tuesday quoting a SAPP insider who claimed that Yong had implied that SAPP could well be on a collision course with its “allies” PKR and DAP (Pakatan members) in many seats.
Speaking to FMT after SAPP’s supreme council meeting on Monday, the insider said Yong told his comrades that SAPP must stick to its “principle” that a local-based party must take the majority of the State Legislative Assembly seats.
But Anwar insisted that talks were going smoothly and that seat negotiations in Sabah were underway.
Anwar said that the opposition allies are more inclined towards a one-to-one fight against Barisan Nasional parties.
“We have taken a clear position that we are moving towards that direction, that’s it’s one-to-one,” Anwar said in a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.
When asked about Jeffrey Kitingan-led State Reform Party (STAR), Anwar said that Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing, who helms Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS), had been appointed to negotiate seats with Jeffrey in Sabah.
“We think we have a problem with the STAR because STAR says it is opposed to all Peninsula-based parties while we say that we are opposed to all corrupt leaders irrespective of whether peninsula or state-based. There is a difference there.
“Notwithstanding that, we have assigned Wilfred (Bumburing) to proceed with the negotiations, including with the STAR,” said Anwar.
‘We want to kill Umno’
Asked if peninsula-based Pakatan was focusing its efforts on only parliamentary seats and leaving the state to the locals to fight out, Anwar said: “There is no way we are only fighting in the parliamentary seats and giving the state to Musa [Aman]. We want to kill Umno.”
He also touched on reports that Sabah PKR was dysfunctional following Anwar’s ready acceptance of BN defectors Bumburing and Beaufort MP Lajim Ukin.
Both declared their alliance to PKR-Pakatan but declined to become members of the coalition. Lajim has set up his own platform Pakatan Perubahan Sabah which is Pakatan-friendly.
FMT had last month reported tension within Sabah PKR between the “PKR ori”[original] or “PKR photocopy”, the former referring to genuine members of the party while “photocopy” addresses those with APS and PPS who “refused” to be members of PKR but have declared support for Anwar.
But Anwar played down such allegations, saying that it was not an accurate assessment of the current situation.
“Not really, of course; there are questions raised, for example: ‘why do you consider this candidate… we think another candidate is better’. Things like that. We’ve had sessions, [PKR] state leader Ahmad Tamrin will be present in all the other meetings, similar with Wilfred and Lajim.”
“It is not about new or old, [former health minister and MCA leader] Chua Jui Meng came in later but he is still the head of Johor and doing similarly well national. I don’t think that is quite correct.”
When asked about the details of the “deal” with the newcomers, Anwar merely said that the collaboration with Lajim and Bumburing was going “smoothly”.
“They come in as partners in Pakatan. They are committed to the Pakatan agenda. We are working very well. In fact, next week I am going to [meet] Wilfred and Lajim as part of the campaign programme. I don’t have a problem, seriously.”
“There will be questions. Particularly now with people clamouring for seats or lobbying for seats; it is something which is quite normal. But we have to draw the line, you know.”
Seat talks smooth
Meanwhile, when asked about seat allocations nationwide, Anwar said that in the peninsula there has been much more progress.
“It is ongoing, in Selangor it is finished. In Penang there is one, Kedah one, Perlis one; I was told, Perak two state seats. So it is 95% resolved,” he said.
Anwar said that he told the committee working on seats, PKR’s Azmin Ali, PAS’s Mustafa Ali and DAP’s Tan Kok Wai to conclude the talks, but he was informed that there is a bit more to be done, especially in Sabah and Sarawak as it involves SAPP and STAR.

KERAKUSAN KUASA BAAL MEMBAWA REBAH BUAT ANWAR SEBAGAIMANA BELIAU MEMBUNUH KARIER POLITIK ALLAHYARHAM TUN GHAFAR)
kata Anwar tiada jangka masa jelas tentang tarikh beliau akan menjadi Perdana Menteri tetapi meramalkan tempohnya "tidak sampai tiga tahun lagi
Dapatkah mereka wujudkan pertandingan 1 lawan 1 PRU ni??
Based on the current situation of Sabah politics, all the concerns that were previously very worry about the 1215 NGO members now will be a nightmare for the local party (STAR, SAPP & USNO).
Undoubtedly, since the release of Dr. Jeffrey from the next PKR establish UBF and now joining STAR, which is the specific agenda Borneanisation STAR ideals become the specter of PR for promoting all national issues.
Orange book also does not mention the issue Borneanisation, just after Borneanisation issue brought by STAR to be bandied about the local community, then Sabah Edition Orange Book published.
Movement actively fishing PR PR leaders to join in capturing Putraya Jaya has caused annoyance among supporters STAR.
Based on the information, STAR may be allocated two seats only. This amount is much smaller than what is expected by the STAR itself.
STAR is certainly not interested in the Putrajaya agenda, STAR more committed and consistent with the agenda Borneanisation the symbol Sabah's participation in Malaysia
The History of Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim SIAPAKAH PEMBIAYA DANA BERSIH...?
Peristiwa Penting :- 1. “Jewish Political Studies Review” (Oktober 2006) - Peranan Anwar adalah tukang lapor kepada American Jewish Organizations (AJO) mengenai negara-negara Islam yang telah kritik regim Israel.
2. Pada 1997 - Anwar melaporkan kepada AJO bahawa Dr Mahathir - Perdana Menteri Malaysia telah membantu Pihak Islam di Palestin serta mengkritik Rejim Israel - Pimpinan Netanyahu
4. Malah menurut pengakuan bersumpah DATO’ ABDUL MURAD BIN KHALID - Bekas Penolong Gabenor Bank Negara, Anwar telah mengarahkan beliau membelanjakan RM 38 Juta kepada Asia Pacific Policy Centre (APPC) dan USD 10 Million kepada Douglas H. Paal.
Tulisan PETER J. BOYER, dalam artikelnya “THE BELIEVER” - “Three years later, just after the September 11th attacks, Ibrahim, still in a Malaysian Jail, wrote an impassioned essay condemning the attacks as an abomination and lamenting the Muslim World’s failure to address “The suffering inflicted on the Muslim masses in Iraq by its dictator as well as by sanctions”.
6. Apabila Anwar ditangkap 1998 - Dua Tokoh Yahudi Parti Democrat, Presiden Clinton iaitu Al-Gore (ketika itu Naib Presiden Amerika) dan Madeline Albright (ketika itu Setiausaha Negara Amerika) menyokong KUAT Perjuangan “Reformasi” Anwar di Malaysia.
7. Paul Wolfowitz telah catur Anwar sebagai Pensyarah Pelawat di John Hopkins & Georgetown University, Konsultan Bank Dunia dan Pengerusi Foundation For The Future.
Beliau menjadi Board of Director Rockefeller Foundation, CBS, Bilderberg dan The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
Tulisan Albright; “There are lots of things that Dr Mahathir [Malaysian Prime Minister] has done that I don’t think serve Malaysia well and are not within the spirit of how Asian countries are evolving. There are certain countries where people deserve better, Malaysia is one of them.
bukan mudah pembangkang nak tewaskan BN.
Trouble seems to be brewing in the opposition front as DAP Sabah and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) take potshots at each other on several issues, including the seats they are eyeing.
With the 13th general election expected to be held anytime soon and no end in sight to the acrimony between the two opposition parties
The chances of Pakatan Rakyat pulling off a strong alliance against Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) appear increasingly remote.
Junz Wong had issued a strongly worded statement before in which he accused SAPP of harbouring “evil intentions” to split the opposition votes in Sabah.
Junz claimed that DAP Sabah has been under attack by SAPP ever since DAP announced that it would be contesting the Sandakan parliamentary seat and the Elopura, Tanjung Papat and Karamunting state seats.
He said SAPP has even claimed that DAP was secretly assisting UMNO to win in the coming election.
If SAPP thinks (Datuk) Yong Teck Lee can deal with Pakatan the way SAPP used to deal with BN, then Yong is so WRONG! Said Junz
Pakatan is NOT BN! BN decisions would be made by (Tun) Dr Mahathir or Pak Lah or Najib, so SAPP just have to deal with the Prime Minister,” he asserted.
Junz said that in the spirit of Pakatan Rakyat, consensus among the three parties’ top leadership will make the decision, not one single leader.
SAPP’s Yong thinks he can by-pass DAP or PAS by going straight to Anwar to negotiate for DAP seats? By continuously slandering DAP and throwing baseless accusations against DAP has worsened the good faith
A headline of national unity among races in Malaysia always appeared in a local newspapers and magazines nowadays. According to the definition ,national unity is a condition in which all citizens from the various ethnic groups live in a peace as one united nationality giving full of commitment to national identity based upon the federal constitutions and Rukun Negara.
Malaysia has a diverse community consisting of three major ethnic groups –Malay, Chinese, Indian –plus several other indigenous tribes. This ethnic and cultural diversities results to a wide variety of language spoken and religion practiced in Malaysia.
There are many ways to strengthen national unity among this different ethnic groups such as through campaign, education and social activity. The Malaysian’s government can promote national unity through campaigns like Open house,1 Malaysia concept and advertisement.
Open house usually held during major festivals in the country. This program has served to promote unity among Malaysians when they visit each other in their home.
The purpose of this concept is to complement the existing approach to strengthen national unity. The core elements of unity are the attitude of acceptance among races and peoples and have the sense of belonging together.
Advertisement through radio, television and newspapers are one of the best way in promoting unity. Most of people can be affected virtually to be united among races because of slogans about unity that they heard and saw in radio and television.
Newspapers that read by all the ethnics must publish unity material that helping citizens understand the important and advantages when they united. Thus, the government can promote national unity through campaign like open house, 1Malaysia Concept and advertisement.
National unity also can be fortified via education such as vision school concept, teacher’s role at the school and the education system. Vision School concept involves putting a national school and one or two another vernacular schools together at the same site to share common facilities such as the school canteen and sports ground.
The close proximity between the students of various races as well as organised activities between the schools will encourage greater interaction between them and foster national unity. Students who have been a part of a vision school can contribute more to the country when they grow up because of their strong bonding among each other.
Teachers also must show the good attitude because they are role model for their students. In addition, with a unified education system, the government could use education as a tool to build the nation and foster unity through a common syllabus and curriculum. This could be further achieved with a single national language as the main medium of instruction in schools and university.
Teachers also must be provided with a standardized form of training in teachers' training colleges.Hence, national unity can be strengthen via education such as vision school concept, teacher’s role at the school and the education system.
Moreover, students nowadays spent most of their time at the school rather than house. Teachers, especially, play a significant role in encouraging racial understanding outside the home.In this situation, teachers must play their important role to educate and nurture the spirit of unity among them.
Social activities like gotong-royong programme, sports and community service can contribute to the improvement of national unity in Malaysia. The gotong-royong programme such as to clean up particular areas like mosque, church and graveyard will make the neigbourhood cooperative and more unite.
This programme also can make the resident become more closer and helping their neighbour when in difficulty such as house burning and home robberies. The resident also can develop a watch groups to protect the community from intruders and make the neighbourhood harmony.
