ALOR SETAR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah
Haminah Hamidun on Sunday gave away schooling aid to 306 orphans from
four districts in Kedah.
The aid was contributed by the Sultanah Bahiyah Orphans Foundation (YASH) at the Istana Seri Pelangi, here.
The orphans comprised students of primary and secondary schools in the districts of Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling and Kota Setar.
At the function, the Queen also gave away special contributions to orphans who had obtained outstanding results in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) this year.
A member of the YASH Board of Directors, Datuk Rosli Awang said the contributions aimed to ease the burden of the families of the orphans in making preparations for the new school session.
