The Human Resources Minister Mandore Dr. Subramaniam admits 1011 Malaysian Indian students were interviewed for JPA Scholarship and 316 (2.6%) were successful and he was thanking the prime minister for that (Tamil Nesan 16th June 2010 – front page). Even then this 316 figure can never be verified as because UMNO refuses to publish it. Our estimate is only a mere 0.1% or a mere 12 top Indian students were given these JPA government scholarships. Remember even UMNO Prime Minister lied when all 523 Tamil schools in Malaysia had been promised RM 100 Million allocation under the 2009 first and second economic stimulus packages.
But zero of these funds from this RM 100 Million has flowed down to any of the said 523 Tamil schools (refer to The Star 30/9/2009 and our aforesaid letter to Prime Minister Najib dated 13/10/2009) and this allocation is for the 2009 and the year is up.
But in actual fact what is he telling the world is that 695 Indian students were denied their Higher Educational Rights despite their outstanding results.
Hindraf and HRP is not only questioning the denial of JPA scholarship. We are also demanding the UMNO led Barisan Nasional governments logic of denying the rest of the at least 695 brilliant students from scholarships Matriculation courses and Local Public Universities?
If the government feels it will go bankrupt by providing more JPA scholarships, why can’t they absorb these SPM high achievers into Matriculation or Local Public Universities or grant them scholarships in the local public and sores of private Universities in the choice of their own course ie the critical courses they may choose.
What will be the explanation for this minister sir.
