Manikavasagam: PKR killing my political career

Displeased for being suspended from the party, former Kapar MP questions the party disciplinary board for their inaction against other leaders

Former Kapar MP S Manikavasagam said that PKR leadership is ‘killing’ his political career by suspending his membership, thus disqualifying him from contesting in the ongoing party polls.

Speaking to FMT, Manikavasagam said that he was sad by the decision made by the party leadership.

“This sentence is like killing my political career..like what Mahathir did to Anwar. I should have been given space to defend myself. If they decided that my Kuala Selangor division chief candidacy should be disqualified then its okay but let me stand as the supreme council member.

“They should have not made me the scapegoat for grousing to the media. When they come to me and ask questions, I just gave them my answers based on what happened on polling day,” he said.

According to him, other party leaders also come forward to the media but no action is taken against them.

Manikavasagam who is contesting as Kuala Selangor chief division and supreme council member was suspended from the party after the PKR’s political bureau meeting last night decided that he breached the party election regulation by going to the media to voice his grouse.

PKR Disciplinary Board Chairman Tan Kee Kwong announced through a press statement today that Manikavasagam had violated the party election code Article B.7 which reads: “Any dispute regarding the party election should not be brought to the media or made public”.

Manikavasagam during the division polls last weekend alleged to the media that his opponent Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was involved in money politics in the run-up to the election.

“His statement was aired in TV1 news and TV3 Buletin Utama on May 11 and published in Utusan Malaysia page 6 on May 12,” the statement read.

Kapar MP hits back at unfair media report on crime

PETALING JAYA: A Pakatan Rakyat MP has lodged a police report against the New Straits Times over an article linking him to the problem of gangsterism in Kapar.

Kapar MP, S Manikavasagam, lodged the report against the national daily and its reporter at 11.30am here at the Klang district police station, urging the police and Home Ministry to take stern action.

Manikavasagam, who was accompanied by a dozen PKR members, claimed the NST report was politically motivated. He claimed it was instigated by someone from within PKR to tarnish his reputation among the residents of Kapar.

“What NST has done is irresponsible and goes against journalistic ethics. I will file a defamation suit against NST and the reporter,” he told FMT.

Yesterday, NST published a news report on Kapar titled “Gangsterism, main worry of Kapar folk”, claiming that Manikavasagam had “worsened” the problem by bailing out the suspects.

Manikavasagam denied the allegation and challenged both NST and the reporter to reveal the “list of suspects” bailed out by him as alleged.

He also expressed his suspicion on the source of the article.

“As the general election nears, someone is trying very hard to sideline me from Kapar. I am very sure the news was planted by a PKR man,” he added.

However, Manikavasagam refused to reveal who that “someone” was, except to say that it was a “party internal matter”.

Only two police stations

When asked to elaborate on the crime allegations, Manikavasagam said that the key reason was inadequate police force.

“There are only two police stations in Kapar, which caused a lot of problems in the constituency with about 142,000 voters.

“This is a large constituency and the current ratio of police to population is one is to 2,000.

“How are you going to handle such a large constituency with two police stations?” he asked.

Manikavasagam said he had sent several letters on the issue to the top police officers urging them to increase the number of police personnel here, but todate there has been no response.

“The police are under the federal government. They should take action to solve the gangsterism issue here. I have raised the issue in Parliament so many times, ” he said.

He also expressed disappointment with the Home Ministry for deliberately overlooking Kapar since Pakatan took over the state in 2008.

Signature campaign

Meanwhile, NGOs in Kapar have begun a signature campaign urging PKR’s top leadership to allow incumbent Manikavasagam to defend his seat in the 13th general election.

The NGOs pledged to give their support to Pakatan if Manickavasagam was retained.

It is learnt that some 2,000 residents have already signed the petition.

It was reported that PKR has decided to replace Manikavasagam in Kapar with Selangor executive councillor Dr Xavier Jayakumar.

PKR is planning to field Manikavasagam in the Bukit Melawati state seat.

IT’s JUSTICE SUICIDAL

I respect the decision made by Sujatha’s Inquest Coroner though he agreed the decision arrived without medical evidence. I too sadden to late K Sujatha as neither she is around nor anyone she trusted upon able to stand against luxurious material world.

One of main accused seem to be hitting out myself for seeking justice . The Malaymail report claims “While I am happy on one side, I am also saddened for Sujatha and her family for the name and reputation of this innocent girl has been dragged into the political gutter by an unscrupulous politician for his own political gain purely because she was not there to defend herself”.

For those with short memory , let me remind them that I had made myself available assisting those seeking justice and truth hiding behind mysterious death including Sujatha’s and custodial death such as Francis Udayappan even before been elected as Member of Parliament.

Even as an MP, I was the first to lend a hand to late Kugan’s family and still supporting them while others ran away afraid their political career will end instantly or changes to swindle government allocation or contracts may diminish forever.

The delay in calling upon Sujatha’s inquest already a signal that works in progress to hide or destroy evidence. While, I’m in opinion that by dragging an Ex-Minister and MIC President Son itself a Victory. The justice may have taken a temporary set back by those crooks behind the scene.

The inquest failed to haul and interrogate first Investigation officer then Sentul OCPD whom believed to closely associated with MIC leaders. Photo’s of his association already submitted to police but what’s the use, as usual it may end up at one of their dust bin or shedder . My lawyer yet to get any respond from him, despite High court order? Why?

Secondly, the Coroner do acknowledge that main accused did presence at Sujatha’s final ritual prayer. But, he failed to note my point that why the main accused conduct ceremony that usually done by a Husband of a married woman. It’s acceptable for Boss of a company to stand as guarantor for a car loan or present condominium on basis I like you like, but final ritual ceremony. That’s including taking away and dispose Sujatha’s Ash in India.

The Inquest barred my lawyers from participating as they afraid all their faces may torn apart by question bombarded when even my doubts it’s remains unclear despite verdict delivered.

The verdict too undermine Medical professionals as it acknowledge red tapes at Government KL General Hospital may complicate Sujatha’s treatment. Those whom really wish to save her could easily transport her to KL General Hospital where a Minister son surely can by pass all the red tape claimed by testifying government medical doctor whom bloodly related to the accused. Beside, Tawakal Hospital just across the government hospital while Sentosa Medical Centre too located within the vicinity. I will let those much well verse to argue on this point out.

Finally, the Coroner claim no physical injuries found on Sujatha’s body. Well, when paraquat from 1litre bottle can migrate to cough syrup bottle why cann’t she been forced to drink it by extortion….over to you, Sir.
