Malaysia Hindu Dharma Maamandram (MHDM) is organising a mass yoga session on June 19, 2016 (Sunday) in conjunction with International Yoga Day, as acknowledged and designated by the United Nations General Assembly.
This event is organised by MHDM with the partnership of MyPPP National Youth Wing as co-organiser and supported by Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan, Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM), Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Hindu Youth Organisation (HYO), Malaysian Ceylonese Congress (MCC), Telugu Association Malaysia (TAM), ISCKON, Yayasan MyNadi and many more.
Last year (2015) being the maiden celebration of the event, we managed to attract 2,200 participants on June 21, 2015 at open ground of Sri Subramaniar Swamy (Batu Caves), Selangor. This was far beyond our initial estimate of 1,000 participants. Motivated by last year’s success we are targeting 5,000 participants to congregate at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur and perform basic Yoga postures simultaneously.
Malaysia Hindu Dharma Mamandram, which is also generally known as ‘Maamandram’, is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to serving Hindus in Malaysia. With 35 active branches all over the country, MHDM is focused mainly on religious education and spiritual development as well as social service.
Founded in 1982, MHDM recently celebrated its 30th year of service. Maamandram aims to expand its service to the community even further and move forward in these modern times. Taking the motto ‘Service to the community through religion’ as inspiration, the Malaysia Hindu Dharma Maamandram continues to help Hindus in Malaysia strive for excellence and prosperity.
MHDM believes in adapting Hinduism to fit our lifestyle yet still holding on to what matters most - our roots and values. Our approaches are modern with conservative values. We hope to expand our scope further and also hope this website will help to enlighten you about our organisation.
We always seek volunteers who are willing to serve the community through religion which justifies our constantly widening Maamandram family. The MHDM family welcomes you to join us.
