Palanivel: Temple not demolished

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall only demolished the stalls and sides of the Sri Muneswarar Kaliyaman temple.

KUALA LUMPUR : MIC president G.Palanivel said that the action by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) at the site of the Sri Muneswarar Kaliyaman temple here yesterday, did not amount to a demolition of the place of worship.

He added that DBKL officers only demolished stalls and sides of the temples.

“I received all kinds of reports that the temple had been demolished. But, only the stalls and sides of the temple were demolished.

“The temple itself remains intact,” he told reporters after officiating the Conference on Forestry and Forest Products Research (CFFPR) 2013 here, today.

Palanivel, who is also the Natural Resources and Environment Minister, was asked to comment on media reports that the temple situated off Jalan P Ramlee here was demolished yesterday morning.

The Sri Muneswarar Kaliyaman temple was built in 1911.
