KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) -- Former Melaka chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik has surrendered the sex video said to involve an Opposition figure to the police.
Rahim said he handed over the original recording to the police after being questioned about it for some five hours at the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman here Thursday.
Speaking to reporters after the interview session, Rahim said he also handed over an Omega watch reported to belong the Opposition figure concerned that was taken from the hotel room where the sex act took place.
Also questioned was businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, who exposed the existence of the tape.
He said he had given his full cooperation to the police and that Malaysian police could enlist the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to verify the authenticity of the tape as the matter was of national interest.
Asked the location where the recording was made, he did not wish to divulge the information and only said:"Police did not ask me this during the questioning."
Rahim had arrived at Bukit Aman in a white Toyota Camry at 5pm and was seen leaving at 9.30pm.
