(The Star) - The “internal bleeding” of Pakatan Rakyat is just the beginning of a more serious problem for the pact, MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said.
He said: “Normally, in medical terms, if there’s haemorrhaging in the brain, it will lead to a stroke.”Kong was commenting about an article in The Star yesterday quoting DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang who reportedly said in his blog Pakatan was “bleeding internal”.
“The internal squabble bet ween Pakatan Rakyat leaders is not unexpected because of the three parties’ different political ideologies,” Kong said at the swearing-in of the Chinese Chin Woo Ath letic Association’s new committee members here yesterday.
He pointed out that Pakatan was just a union of convenience based on a loose understanding when the opportunity presented itself in the country’s political scene. Meanwhile, Kong also said there would be no fresh MCA election for the time being, although it could still be held if two-thirds of its central committee members resigned.
“Under the MCA constitution, there is no time limit for a fresh election,” he said.
Kong, who is also the Perak MCA chairman, said all central committee members were matured party leaders and they should know what they were doing.
“They cannot force people to resign or prevent anybody from resigning,” he added.
