Malaysian Woman Arrested, Syabu Found In Her Handbag

JAKARTA, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- Customs officers arrested a Malaysian woman at the Ngurah Rai airport in Tuban, Bali yesterday afternoon after they found 0.36 grams of syabu and drug smoking apparatus in her handbag.

The 26-year-old woman, who was travelling alone, was behaving suspiciously and in a state of daze when she was stopped by Custom officers, said Bali Customs Action and Investigation Division provincial chief Bagus Endro.

He said upon further inspection, 10 eramine pills and 0.62 grams of syabu were found on her.

The woman, who is an architect, plans to spend 10 days in Bali and she was fetched by her boyfriend, who is from Jakarta, he added.

The woman may be charged under the Narcotics Act for possession of drugs which carries imprisonment between four and 12 years and a fine between Rp800 million (RM296,300) and Rp8 billion (RM2.9 million).
