KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- A total of 475,182 candidates will sit for the written Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination from next Wednesday until Oct 13.
A statement from the Education Ministry today says that out of the figure, 442,611 candidates are from fully-aided government schools, 13,561 from private schools, 338 are individual candidates, 4,150 from the Mara Junior Science Colleges and Armed Forces Apprentice Training School (4,150), 1,288 from the Sekolah Agama Rakyat and 13,234 from Sekolah Agama Negeri.
According to the statement, Selangor has the largest number of PMR candidates at 77,826 while Labuan has the least, at 1,154.
There will be 28,028 invigilators manning the 3,496 examination centres nationwide and to ensure smooth running of the examination, all candidates are required to observe the stipulated examination conditions and rules.
In the same statement, the Examination Board also advises all the candidates to always refer to the examination time-table and bring along their identity card and validation form to the examination hall.
Parents are also told to advise their children to follow the health guidelines and take precautionary measures against Influenza A(H1N1).
