PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Health Minister and MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said on Thursday he believed that MCA Central Committee members and party delegates were mature enough to accept the sacking of the party's deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
Liow told a press conference here that after the last General Election, the party is currently undergoing a transformation and was facing many challenges and such it was imperative that the party became stronger and stable.
"I think the presidential council is acting in the interest of the party by following the party constitution and procedures, so whatever we do today is to ensure that the party will be stable and strong to face challenges ahead.
"Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has the right to make appeal to Central Committee for further judgement," said Liow.
The five-man MCA disciplinary board was unanimous in its decision to recommend the sacking of Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, following his sex video scandal, according to its report to the party's presidential council.
