Embattled PPP leader Senator Datuk T. Murugiah is not wanted by the MIC.

Commenting on talks that Murugiah might join the Gerakan or MIC if he is sacked by his party, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said he should stay in the PPP.

“I would very much prefer if Murugiah stays in his own party. It’s better for him to talk to his president and settle this amicably,” Samy Vellu told reporters at the Maju Institute of Educational Development Buku Latihan UPSR 2009 launch yesterday.

He said Murugiah had never been a MIC member as alleged by PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas.

In the past, Murugiah had been accused of stealing the limelight from MIC’s three representatives in the government.
Last week, Kayveas said that 42 of the 45 PPP supreme council members had voted for Murugiah, a former youth leader, to be sacked.

Kayveas also accused him of money politics.

He said Murugiah would be sacked after the party’s general assembly on June 7.

Following this, there were talks that Murugiah might join other component parties like MIC or Gerakan.

Meanwhile, an online petition has been launched by a well wisher to rally support for Murugiah.
