I Have No Intention To Challenge Kayveas - Murugiah

SEREMBAN, May 8 (Bernama) -- Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk T. Murugiah has expressed regret over what he described as attempts to pit him against PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas.

The former PPP Youth chief said he had no intention to challenge Kayveas for the post.

"He is a good leader. Why should we replace a good leader? At 45, I'm still young and my political career is still long. I still need to learn a lot of things," he told reporters after visiting the Tafe College here today.

He urged those making allegations against him to stop doing so or report to the authorities if they had proofs that he had misused his power.

He said that as a sole PPP member in the country's administration, he was also responsible in restoring the people's confidence in the Barisan Nasional.

"I'm am extremely busy carrying out my duties, not campaigning to contest against the president," he said, adding that he had no problems with Kayveas.

The nomination for party posts will be held on May 30 while elections will be on June 7.
