Mother’s day just passed by but that may not deter the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) from charging Supermom Chitrakala Vasu, former MIED CEO, for hijacking funds collected from poor Indians for her business ventures ranging from Auto servicing to National Service Camp.

According to sources, Chitrakala Vasu is expected to be charged as early as tomorrow, according to sources.

The mother of four kids while being CEO of MIED is also having interest in 13 companies.

The current MIC youth leader, Mohan Thangarasu, is one of her main business partner who apparently betrayed her to please Samy Vellu so that his political career is not in jeopardy.

It’s unclear whether former MIED treasurer Mahalingam will be charged or whether he may turn out to be a witness.

Supermom was specially chosen by Samy Vellu, MIC president, to helm the MIC education arm with the hefty RM 25,000 per month salary.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 — Anti-graft investigators are wrapping up a probe into alleged fraud involving MIED, the MIC’s education arm, and sources said former top officials are expected to be charged later this week with criminal breach of trust.
Several top politicians and senior MIED officials have been questioned in recent months as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) finishes investigations into allegations that RM4 million had been pilfered from MIED.

The probe revealed that MIED officials and MIC leaders had colluded to use MIED money for their personal business purposes including, in one case, setting up a National Service training camp, the sources said.
Among those who were questioned were MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, former vice-presidents Tan Sri M. Mahalingam and Tan Sri M. Kumaran, former MIED CEO Chitrakalla Vasu, and other senior officials.
The bone of contention was who had authorised the funds’ use for purposes other than to advance MIED activities, as listed out in its Memorandum of Association.
The Malaysian Insider understands that MACC officials took a final statement from Samy Vellu today, and it is reliably learnt he denied authorising any payments of MIED funds for non-MIED purposes. They also questioned Chitrakalla today.
The purpose of the extensive questioning, officials said, was to determine the paper trail and movement of the money.
Several of the people questioned, including Samy Vellu, are believed to be considered witnesses in the case.
An MACC team seized files, records, plus other materials and questioned staff at the MIED office, on the second floor of the MIC headquarters in Jalan Rahmat, in January this year after police reports were lodged by MIED director Datuk S. Sothinathan, a former MIC vice-president.

The case revolves around financial advances made by MIED to MIED Capital Sdn Bhd, which were later supposed to have been reimbursed. But the money ended up in two private companies linked to a former senior official instead of the MIED.
Chitrakalla Vasu had also lodged several reports with the MACC and police over alleged mismanagement and fraud in MIED last year.
 MIED, in return, lodged police reports against her over “missing” money in MIED.
She was Samy Vellu’s confidante for many years but the two had a spectacular and very public falling out last year, with each accusing the other of fraud and taking MIED for a ride.
MIED had received millions in donations from MIC members, the Indian community, and the government to support the MIC’s education ventures.
It also owns the AIMST University in Kedah, which is reportedly worth RM1 billion.

PETALING JAYA, May 10 — A government labourer suffered chest injuries from a stray bullet when police fired on an amok armed with a knife in Kuala Selangor last night, making it the third such shooting case in as many weeks. S. Surentiran, 21, a JKR labourer, was critically injured as two policemen fired in self-defence at a former army commando who tried to attack them with a “Rambo knife”.
Surentiran’s brother, S. Sures, 24, filed a report at the Kota Damansara police station here at 3.35pm, claiming the policemen fired with no regard for public safety while apprehending their suspect.
A total of four shots, including one warning shot, were fired by the police during the incident that took place in Kampung Pokok Pauh, Kampung Kuantan at about 7pm, according to the police report.
Lawyer K. Vasantha Kumar, representing Surentiran’s family, urged the police to take more care in discharging their weapons.
“They (the police) should have handled the problem more carefully and not shoot indiscriminately as there were onlookers around,” he said.
He also said the police should have tried using other non-lethal ways such as pepper spray to apprehend the crazed man.
Vasantha Kumar, who is also adviser to the PKR-backed Malaysian Indian Voice (Hindraf My-Voice) NGO, said he wants a domestic enquiry to be carried out into the shooting.
“We want a clear and transparent enquiry... so the public can know (the truth of) what happened.
“To that end, we will hand a memorandum to Bukit Aman tomorrow at 3pm urging [the police to carry out] a domestic enquiry,” he said.
He added that Hindraf My-Voice was going to ask Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan to resign for what he claimed was the IGP’s inaction following repeated incidents of wrongful shooting.
“There have been many deaths caused by the police this past month,” he said.
He cited the recent police shootings of Aminulrasyid Amzah and Mohamad Azizi Aziz as examples of police negligence.
On April 26, schoolboy Aminulrasyid was shot dead after a 6km chase in Shah Alam, Selangor, 17-year-old trader Mohamad Azizi was shot in the hip while racing away from police in Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan last Saturday.
“What is happening with the police force... we don’t know,” Vasantha Kumar said.
“The IGP is getting weaker [in his ability] to control police integrity. We call on him to resign.”
Surentiran is currently warded at Sungai Buloh Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect, who was shot in the leg and stomach, is also warded in the same hospital.
He had earlier escaped from a mental institute where he was undergoing psychiatric treatment before making his way back to his home in Kampung Pokok Pauh.

There are ways to solve the problem

Having come from a big city like Kuala Lumpur, I did not realise the seriousness of the poverty in rural Terengganu. Many had to use wells and rivers for their water supply and oil lamps at night. And their children walked to school barefooted because they did not have shoes.

The student’s mother can no longer work because of mental illness. Mother and daughter live in one room at RM100 rental per month where they cook, eat and sleep. When even their low cost flat went on auction, as they could not pay the RM200 or so installment.

To add insult to injury, the Welfare department gives them only RM80 per month.

Had they been a Malay Muslims, the Pusat Zakat, Baitumal, Jakim, some Yayasan or other corporate bodies, GLCs, etc., would have bailed them out.

But as poor Indians, made poorer in One Malay-sia by pure neglect, this is the pain and suffering they have to endure.

Let us get one thing very clear. What Uthayakumar said above is absolutely true. And this is a not a new problem, mind you. It is a problem that has existed for more than 50 years. But it is not a predicament that only Malaysians of Indian origin suffer from. Poverty does not recognise race. It hits everyone, irrespective of race.

I remember more than 30 years ago, back in the 1970s, when I first moved to Kuala Terengganu. I joined the Rotary Club and was its Secretary for about seven years. I actually served seven different presidents such as Gill Singh (Forestry Director), Raman (a lawyer who later became a Muslim and took the name of Rahman Abdullah), Raj (an insurance manager), Aziz Ibrahim (the Bank Pertanian manager) and many more.

Just to digress a bit, one day, when recording the Minutes of the Meeting, I accidentally recorded Raman’s name as Rahman. Raman came up to me and asked, “Raja Petra, are you trying to convert me to Islam?” Later, after Raman had become a Muslim, I told him, “There you are, don’t joke about such matters. Now God has fulfilled your ‘wish’. So be careful what you wish for.”

Anyway, those many years as a Rotary Club member and seven years as its Secretary were the most satisfying days for me. Having come from a big city like Kuala Lumpur, I did not realise the seriousness of the poverty in rural Terengganu. Many had to use wells and rivers for their water supply and oil lamps at night. And their children walked to school barefooted because they did not have shoes.

Raman (Rahman) and I used to ‘roam’ the rural areas of Terengganu to see first-hand what we were up against. We met the headmasters of a few extremely rural schools to see what we could do for the kids there and it was agreed we would supply them with shoes, at least as starters. We contacted the local Bata shoe dealer and told him to visit these schools and supply all the kids with shoes and just send us the bill.

A few months later we visited these schools again and found that the kids still walked to school barefooted. We checked with the headmaster and he told us that the kids would sling their shoes around their neck while walking to school barefooted and would put their shoes on as they entered the school compound.

We then arranged for the Bata dealer to visit the schools every six months instead of once a year so that the kids would not be too worried about wearing off their shoes. And each kid was to be supplied with two pairs of shoes.

Where was the government? Why did these kids not get government help? We don’t know and did not worry about that. We did not go and fight with the government or the political parties. Instead, we took it upon ourselves to supply these kids with their needs, starting with shoes and later with other things that they needed.

When I became the chairman of our residents’ committee I arranged for a few of us to visit the local orphanage and found that many kids could not afford to support themselves. Although the orphanage was government-run, it still lacked a lot of things, in particular scholarships or pocket-money for the students.

We then did a fund-raising drive and collected enough money to ‘adopt’ the poorer of the orphans (I had five ‘anak angkat’). We gave each destitute orphan RM50 per month to help them with their schooling (not all were destitute though because some had families such as working siblings or uncles/aunties who gave them money every month).

Where was the government? Why did these orphans not get government help? We don’t know and did not worry about that. We did not go and fight with the government or political parties. Instead, we took it upon ourselves to assist these destitute orphans with a monthly scholarship of RM50 each.

Raman and I also went to the psychiatric ward of the Kuala Terengganu general hospital to see what we could do for the inmates there. After discussing the matter with the doctors it was decided we should donate a sound system so that music could be piped into the ward.

Later, when I visited the ward again, I saw that the patients were no longer glum and miserable but were happily dancing and singing to the music. Well, at least I made them happy. And they appeared happier than me because they had no debts to pay and other things to worry about.

This was of course in Terengganu where the entire rural population is Malay. The urban population was not that bad off though. Anyway, the Terengganu Chinese had all sorts of foundations and community-supported Chinese schools so they were well looked after. And there was hardly any Indian population save for the business people and professionals. Therefore, there were no poor Indians as such.

You will probably now argue that we only helped the Terengganu Malays and not the ‘others’. The truth is there were no ‘others’ who needed help in Terengganu. If there had been very poor Indians and Chinese then they would have also got our help. After all, about 90% of our Rotary Club members were non-Malays, and well-off non-Malays at that. So it was not a ‘Malay-only’ policy that we practiced but it was just that we could not find any non-Malays who were destitute enough to warrant help.

We could, though, find quite a number of Chinese in the old folks home. And some of these Chinese in the home were from rich families who no longer wanted to take care of their old folks and had dumped them in the old folks home. And, yes, we also visited the old folks home and helped the inmates there, many of them Chinese. There were no Indians in the old folks home because, as I said earlier, there are not that many Indians in Terengganu -- and for those Indians that are in Terengganu their old folks are not in Terengganu but back in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, etc.

At that time, it did not occur to us that the kids who walked to school barefooted were Malays, or that the orphans were Malays, or that most of the old folks in the old folks home were Chinese. We just helped them because they needed help and not because of their race. I now wish we had some Indians in those rural kampong, orphanage, or old folks home. Then, today, I can claim we also helped the Indians.

Actually, the Indians in Terengganu had plenty of money, even though it was a very small Indian population, and no one needed our help. In fact, these Indians donated money to help finance the activities of the Rotary Club. So the Terengganu Indians gave us money to help the Malay kids and orphans and the Chinese in the old folks home. They did not take our money.

Now, before you jump on me, I am talking about Terengganu more than 30 years ago. I have since left Terengganu and am no longer the Secretary of the Rotary Club. Have things changed since then? Today, are there poor Indians in Terengganu or Indians in the orphanage and old folks home?

I don’t know, but the last time I went to Terengganu and stayed there for about two weeks, more than a year ago, I met many of my old Indian friends and they appeared even richer than when I knew them back in the 1970s and 1980s. Many were driving Mercedes Benzes and have homes in the golf resort that cost a million or more. They were just oozing with money.

Why is Hindraf not able to tap the financial resources of these Indians? I am confident that Hindraf can raise millions from these rich Indians and use the money to embark upon various projects such as scholarships for needy Indian kids.

If Hindraf can find five or six Indians of strong social standing to act as trustees of an Indian Education Foundation then many of those rich Indians would gladly pledge money to this foundation.

But before these rich Indians would dare part with their money you have to convince them that the foundation will be professionally run and is headed by trustees who have impeccable records. Many are worried that the money they donate would be misused, as what has been the case so many times in the past.

I don’t believe the Indian community problem should be shoved to the government to solve. There are enough rich and super-rich Indians who can help their own community. Why are they not doing so?

Hindraf should also go and meet the Rotary and Lions Clubs and talk to them about the needy that need help. I can assure you most would want to help if you can point them to the right direction. But of course, if they see Hindraf as political rather than community service, then they would not want to open their doors -- and more importantly, their purses.

The original Turkish people, of Mongoloid Origin, were the real founders and masters of the Ottoman Empire, which was largely made possible from the Mongol Empire's subjugation of the Sultanate of Rûm, itself ruled by the descendants of significant population of ethnically Mongoloid Turks (i.e. ethnic groups physically resembling that of Mongolian, Tibetan, Han Chinese, Manchurian, Korean, Japanese, etc, but speaking the original Turkic language that was born in the region covering modern-day northern China and Mongolia), otherwise known as Seljuks. It was from the Seljuks that the Turkic language became a standard. The Ottoman 'Turks' had culturally and ethnically evolved since medieval times from some inter-racial mixing of Caucasoid Indo-Europeans and Mongoloid Turco-Mongols, but have become increasingly Caucasoid Indo-European since the beginning of the Ottoman Empire.

In spite of this, the people of the Ottoman Empire still prefer to call themselves 'Turks', an ethnic and genetic misnomer which has remained to this day that identifies not only those cultures of people with original Mongoloid (and hybrid) characteristics, but also anybody from Europe to Asia who speak a Turkic-derived language, and any national of the nation of Turkey.

Now that we all know who the REAL Turks are, it comes as NO SURPRISE that this semi-Turkish-Chindian Homeless Beer-Guzzler has the gall to address Women the way he did so unceremoniously during his Mother's Day Message. It is almost as if he said it as though he had no mother. His Daddy would have turned in his grave had he known that his Racist Son, and now Sexist Son has decided to insult 55% of Malaysia's Population all at the same time. How different is this from "All you bloggers are but Job-less Housewives, with nothing else better to do."

Malaysia has tolerated such corrupted Ministers for long enough. It is time to close the door on them. Forget tolerating them, this is now over-the-limit. We have sacrificed so much for you. You are ungrateful creatures. You rob us of our freedom, you rob us of our liberty. You rob us of our youth, and now you are killing them in plain sight, and you say that it is only trifle gossip? Should we load the dead onto an ox-cart, and lay them on your doorstep everytime one of us dies? That way, you can see that we are not just gossiping. We can start with the 1800 bodies who died in remand detention last year alone. Add to that, Teoh Beng Hock, Kugan, and so on. This list will go on for miles. And the stench of the murdered Malaysians would go even further. Would you still say that we are gossiping?

How long will it take for you to sign a piece of paper? Yes, your resignation letter, afterwhich you may "Go with the Divine Wind", as you fall on your own sharpened sword while your assistant lops off your head with a cleaver to minimize your suffering. Well, you might say "Ya, when pigs can fly". Well, Homeless Minister, they have. Two of them, in fact, by your own henchmen. Perhaps it is time that you migrated back to Turkey, where they might tolerate sexists, and racists. I bid thee adieu. Do the right thing. Go with the Divine Wind.

Umno Needs To Be Realist And To Change, Says Najib

PHNOM PENH, May 10 (Bernama) -- In celebrating its 64th anniversary On Tuesday, Umno must realise that it needs be a realist and be willing to transform for now and the future, says party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"The two aspects are important as the people are not only seeing Umno from its history but also its position now and in the future."

He said this when asked by Malaysian journalists on his message in conjunction with the party's 64th anniversary, after attending the Cambodia-Malaysia Business Forum, here, Monday.

Umno, established on May 11, 1946, was the pillar of the Alliance then which fought for the country's independence and the forerunnmer of the Barisan Nasional which until today remains the ruling coalition.

In looking back at Umno's history, the prime minister said 64 years was a long time.

He said Malaysia had become successful because of the sound policies of Umno and BN. "Umno and BN were responsible for the country's big transformation," he added.

"However, Umno cannot be complacent as the people are not judging the party based on historical factors alone but also its contributions now and in the future.

"Umno must be dynamic and fresh, and breathe a new life into itself.

"If Umno does not bring about transformation, we may be exposed to the elements that have adversely impacted other political parties that are as old as Umno," Najib said.

Perbicaraan kes liwat ll Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim disambung hari ini, selepas tiga bulan ditangguhkan, dengan peguambela Karpal Singh menuntut senarai saksi.

Karpal, bagaimanapun, berkata beliau mahu mahkamah menggunakan kuasanya mengikut Seksyen 56 Kanun Prosedur Jenayah untuk memaksa senarai saksi itu diserahkan.

Karpal juga mengadu tidak mendapat nota keterangan.

Selepas bercerai, Halina melakukan berbagai kerja dan akhirnya melalui hubungan kerja dengan Pengerusi MCA Terengganu, Datuk Lau, ekonomi Halina kembali stabil dan beliau membeli polisi insuran AIA untuk anak-anak beliau, Saiful dan adiknya Tati. Halina kemudiannya berkahwin dengan seorang duda bernama Haris.

Halina meninggal beberapa tahun lalu di Hospital Pantai, Kuala Lumpur akibat barah payudara. Ketika itu Saiful menuntut di Uniten.

Kos rawatan perubatan Halina dibiayai melalui polisi insurannya, begitu juga rumah mereka di yang beralamat di No 78, Jalan 7/6, Bandar Utama, Damansara, PJ. Hasil insuran ibunya juga, Saiful dan Tati mendapat RM2000 setiap orang setiap bulan. Saiful dan Tati bakal mendapat RM 1 juta setiap orang hasil insuran tersebut.

Tati, pada umur 19 tahun berkahwin dengan anak Tan Sri Sulaiman Sujak, bekas Panglima Tentera Udara. Mereka ada chalet di Terengganu, tetapi akhirnya bercerai.

Pada 17 Mei 2008, Saiful bertunang dengan Janna Shariza, anak kepada Mumtaz Jaafar, bekas pelari pecut tahun 70'an. Ketika itu, Saiful beliau bertugas di pejabat Anwar. Mumtaz adalah setiausaha peribadi kepada Rosmah. Apabila mengetahui Saiful bekerja dengan Anwar, maka konspirasi pun dirancang melibatkan puluhan juta ringgit. Dan ketika ini, Azlan yang sudah lama menghilangkan diri muncul kembali.

Ingat, di awal rencana dinyatakan Azlan sanggup melakukan apa saja untuk mendapat wang, walau pun cuba memaksa isteri jadi pelacur. Menggunakan anak untuk memfitnah Anwar adalah peluang pendapatan lumayan bagi Azlan. Ketika inilah berlaku pertemuan di Putrajaya dalam bilik bacaan melibatkan Najib, Rosmah, Mumtaz, Saiful dan seorang lagi yang tidak dikenali.

Antara tugas upahan Saiful yang diberi oleh Najib ialah:

• Mendapat maklumat dan fail mengenai MP Umno/BN yang ingin menyertai PR. (Dan dia berkaya menyeludup sekurang-kurangnya 5 fail kepada Najib).
• Mengaku diliwat untuk menghalang Anwar dari bertanding dalam PRk Permatang Pauh
• Mengaku diliwat bagi menghalang Anwar menjadi PM
• Mengaku diliwat memastikan Anwar terpenjara.

Tidak lama selepas itu, iaitu pada 28 Jun, Saiful pun membuat laporan polis kononnya beliau diliwat. Dan pada ketika ini Azlan muncul di khalayak ramai, iaitu dalam masjid Wilayah dan berlagak sebagai 'Bapa Mithali'.

(Anehnya, pertunangan Saiful dengan Janna masih kekal walau pun Saiful mengaku diliwat).

Local polls possible, legal experts tell Pg govt - Anil Netto

It is legally possible to hold local government elections, a team of legal experts advising the Penang state government has found.
The team comprises Tommy Thomas, Malik Imtiaz and Yeoh Yang Poh (former Bar Council chairman, who also led the team). The Penang government will now decide whether to seek a court declaration on the issue.

“Most victims are women. What do women do? They go to the hairdressers… they chit-chat and suddenly it is everywhere and cause people to fear,” he joked.
