Even the PKR led Selangor government is clamping down on these smalltime operators who are just earning a living. Instead the Selangor State government must encourage and initiate scrap metal centres to the grassroots but in a more organized fashion.
How are these smalltime scrap metal operators going to earn a living when they are forced and pushed to industrial areas? (SH 12/5/10 page S26). They also have to be at the grassroots, housing estates for the day to day collection and at the same time save the environment. How can recycling scrap materials be bad for the environment?
There are 5,000 metal traders in the country says Kenneth Eswaran, the Malay-sian Indian Metal Traders and Recyclers Association President. (The Star 28/11/09 at page N 22). But almost 98% of these metal traders are Indians and 99% of them have been denied the licences.
Where is the change PKR, PAS and DAP promised at least in the states they are ruling?
