BN Will Fulfil Election Promises - Najib

SEPANG, April 5 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) will implement the projects promised during campaigning in the three by-elections because they will bring benefit to the people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"The BN will ensure that we carry out our promises. What we don't want are projects that are 'instant noddles'.

"If a particular project brings real benefit to the people and we have made a promise or commitment to do it in the election campaign, we will certainly fulfil it," he said when met by reporters after handing over prizes to winners of the Malaysia Petronas Formula One Grand Prix, at the Sepang Circuit, here, Sunday.

The three by-elections -- Bukit Gantang Parliamentary, Perak, Bukit Selambau State constituency, Kedah and Batang Ai State constituency, Sarawak -- will be held simultaneously on Tuesday.

Najib said BN victories would give a significant boost to the government in tackling all challenges in terms of politics and the economy.

The 11th edition of the Malaysian Grand Prix was won by the Brawn GP Formula 1 Team driver, Jenson Button from Britain.

Others who watched the race included the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Petronas chairman Tan Sri Hassan Marican, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique.

Referring to the Malaysian Grand Prix this time, Najib said it went smoothly although it had to be stopped due to the heavy rain and thunder storm.

"In future, we may decide to have the race much earlier. There are also suggestions for us to hold the race at night, but we have to look at the cost," he said.
