Racial Issues Should Take Back Seat To Achieve Competitive Nation

KLANG, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Racial issues should take a back seat if Malaysia is to be competitive in the international arena as it would give greater confidence to foreign investors, said Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) president Datuk Kenneth Eswaran.

"To achieve this progress, racial issues must take a backseat. We should stop attempting to become a hero for our community but instead attempting to become a super hero for national unity and the economy," he said at 1Malaysia Deepavali Canival 2010 organised by by MAICCI in collaboration with Malaysian Indian Textiles and General Stores Association near here, Sunday night.

The objective of the event, among others, was to enhance the 1Malaysia concept and to stress on national unity and ethnic tolerance among Malaysians from different background.

Kenneth praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in addressing the plight of the Indian business community effectively, taking into account the recent transformation of Brickfields into Little India.
