PETALING JAYA, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The PKR leadership is under increasing pressure to halt polls for its central leadership.
Sunday, a group of about 500 party members held a peaceful assembly outside the party's headquarters to urge PKR's leaders to call off the polls.
The group, which came in 14 buses from Johor, Selangor, Penang and Perak, also asked the party's senior leaders including PKR's adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, President Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, vice-President Mohamed Azmin Ali the party's secretary-general to resign.
The assembly, which started at 4.30pm and ended one hour later, was led by PKR's former deputy secretary-general S.Jenapala Perumal, with most of them carrying banners demanding Anwar's resignation.
While the assembly was going on, no representative or PKR leader came forward to calm down the situation and the entrance door to the party's headquarters was also locked.
However, PKR's Election Director Fuziah Salleh, who is also Kuantan Member of Parliament, and PKR's Strategic Director and Batu Member of Parliament suddenly appeared out of nowhere to calm down the situation when the assembly was about to disperse.
Before moving away from the scene, Tian Chua managed to speak to B.Rajandran, the candidate for deputy head of the Selayang division, telling him that all outstanding problems should be resolved through party channels.
Speaking to reporters later, Rajandran said he was not satisfied because the leadership of the party was not serious in handling the problems as raised by the grassroot members.
