Gerakan Determined To Regain Lost Seats

MELAKA, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Gerakan has the confidence and resoluteness to regain the seats it lost to the opposition in the last general election.

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the party was working very hard and was mobilising the party machinery to achieve this goal.

"We have decided that we have the confidence and determination to win," he told reporters after opening the Melaka Gerakan general meeting, here.

Dr Koh said this when asked to comment on the suggestion by Penang Umno liaison chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that Gerakan handed over the seats it contested in the last general election to the other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties if it was not confident of winning.

Ahmad Zahid was reported to have said that such a move was appropriate because it would be pointless for the party to contest in the general election if it did not make adequate preparation to contest.

Dr Koh said the party would continue to work hard and collaborate with other BN component parties to ensure victory.
