The MCA condemns the May 13 gathering scheduled to be held in Terengganu because it will only serve to remind Malaysians of the dark incident.
Party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said there was no need for such a reminder and Barisan Nasional leaders should stay away from such gatherings.
A Bahasa Malaysia daily reported on Monday that about 10,000 people, including former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and members from Malay non-governmental organisations, would attend the gathering themed “Melayu Bangkit (Rise the Malays)”.
“All Malaysians are aware of and have learned from the May 13 incident.”
“Malaysians today should be more multi-racial in our outlook, more inclusive, moderate in our stand and be supportive of the 1Malaysia concept,” Dr Chua told reporters after the party presidential council meeting at Wisma MCA here yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall has described the gathering as racialistic and in conflict with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's 1Malaysia spirit. -- The Star

MCA wants Barisan Nasional leaders to stay away from the massive celebration planned in Kuala Terengganu tomorrow. This celebration is to remember the greatest event in Malaysian history, the 13 May 1969 race riots, the day the Chinese were put in their place and reminded that the Malays own this land and that the non-Malays are second-class immigrants.
I suppose, in light of the Chinese voting opposition and the Indians making all sorts of unreasonable demands through Hindraf, it is time that the non-Malays are again reminded that they do not own this country and that they have been allowed to live here out of the kindness of the hearts of the Malays. But don’t push your luck or else we will push you out and send you home to China and India, is the message that is going to be delivered tomorrow.
MCA has asked Barisan Nasional leaders to stay away and not participate in tomorrow’s May 13 anniversary celebration. Who are these Barisan Nasional leaders that MCA is talking about? Is not Umno also in Barisan Nasional? Is not Umno, in fact, the head honcho of Barisan Nasional? So do these Barisan Nasional leaders that MCA is talking about include Umno leaders? How can Umno leaders stay away and not participate in tomorrow’s great celebration when Umno is the organiser?
MCA has totally lost its dignity. Parti yang sudah hilang maruahnya.

Is that the best MCA can do? All they can do is to just ask Barisan Nasional leaders to stay away from the May 13 anniversary celebration tomorrow? Is not UPENT the sponsor of this event? Is not UPENT, the Terengganu State Economic Planning Unit, a government agency? Is not the Terengganu state government under Umno? 
Furthermore, is MCA not also in the Terengganu state government? Has MCA resigned from the Terengganu state government? Or is MCA still in the Terengganu state government?
