Police Ready For Bagan Pinang By-election, Main Road To Be Closed In Stages

PORT DICKSON, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The mood is a merry one for the Bagan Pinang by-election with party workers and supporters busy making last minute preparations for nominations in the Port Dickson Municipal Council Hall tomorrow morning.

Authorities have reminded party workers to follow rules and avoid putting up posters and flags at prohibited areas.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said police advised party supporters to come early to places designated for them.

He said police would escort the expected large number of supporters to the nomination centre.

"Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters will use the road in front of the Port Dickson district office complex while Pas supporters will move at a junction to the hall. Supporters of both parties will use separate routes and I urge them to follow police directions," Osman told reporters here , Friday.

He said the main road in the area, Jalan Pantai, will begin to be closed beginning at 7am and the closure will be done in stages.

He said the road would begin to be closed from the traffic lights junction at the Port Dickson distict council office complex until the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Samad traffic lights junction.

"People, including tourists, heading to the main beach at Telok Kemang, are asked to use alternative routes. However, people need not be worried as police personnel are ready for all eventualities during the election period," Osman said.
