PENANG, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is prepared for a nationally-televised debate with Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon at the Gerakan headquarters.
However, he said the DAP was disappointed that Dr Koh had shown his "trademark" evasiveness by setting pre-conditions before the debate could take place.
"To ensure that Koh does not wriggle out of the nationally-televised debate, the DAP has unreservedly agreed to the debate, without any conditions, even if it is held at the Gerakan headquarters, on the Kampung Buah Pala or any land issue," he said in a statement Friday.
On Aug 30, Dr Koh, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, had said that Gerakan leaders were willing to debate with Lim while attending the Penang Gerakan annual general meeting.
The following day, the Chief Minister replied that he would accept Dr Koh's challenge, only if the latter took up the challenge.
However, Dr Koh offered to send a proxy from Gerakan Youth.
