Wee: Let Representatives Resolve MCA Internal Crisis

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- MCA Central Committee member Wee Jeck Seng said Thursday any internal crisis facing the party should be resolved by the delegates at its emergency general meeting (EGM) on Oct 10.

He said it was unfortunate that suspended deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek's sex scandal video had resurfaced and those responsible must have their motive but the investigation should be left to the police.

"What matters now is the decision of the delegates (at the EGM) on Oct 10 so let the MCA delegates resolve the MCA crisis," Wee, who is Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, told a news conference on Malaysia's first Outstanding Youth Conference here.

He was asked to comment on a report that the sex DVD which caused the downfall of Dr Chua had resurfaced, sparking a fresh round of controversy.

The EGM is being called following Dr Chua's sacking from the party on Aug 26 but the MCA Central Committee last Saturday revised the presidential council's decision and suspended him for four years.

Wee said he was happy to note that the number of youths taking part in entrepreneurship had risen from 51.6 per cent in 2006 to 63.2 per cent in 2008, attributing the greater success to the Ministry's take on developing entrepeneurship, leadership and skills.

The Outstanding Youth Conference, organised by the Universiti Utara Malaysia student body, will be held at its Sintok campus on Oct 9.
