Brief report on the Youth for A Better Malaysia forum

by Nathaniel Tan

Do pardon my absence/break!

I had a good time on Sunday, and left the event truly appreciative of the efforts that everyone contributed in making the event a success - my fellow organisers, all the speakers, and of course, the participants :)

The event turned out to be small, but intimate. As one of the speakers mentioned though, it was a small group we were all confident had big roles to play in the future of Malaysia.

Each and everyone of the speakers had something truly unique and helpful to share. I’m sure each participant was touched and inspired in different ways. I personally enjoyed an aesthetic exhortion to rid the world of the ugliness that is oppression and injustice, the goodness and wisdom of a young gentleman from Umno, some brilliant “Malaysian cultural products,” explorations of race, religion and politics in Malaysia, and many more.

I don’t think it’ll make much sense for me to write about every single session, but hopefully some videos will be available at some point.

Once again, I want to thank friends old (the speakers and the support from the group of American students and friends I should note especially) and new (so many young Malaysians I met on Sunday who carry the torch of hope, dan terutamanya rombongan dari KUIS yang bersama kita sepanjang hari :)

The positivity and the support overwhelmed me, I’m still not that good at putting it in words, so just a big THANK YOU to all! :) If/when we get those videos up, I’ll be sure to post them :)
