Azizan Sends Letter To Remove Muhammad Radzhi As Exco

ALOR SETAR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak on Monday sent a letter to the Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah requesting that Lunas state assemblyman Muhammad Radzhi Salleh be removed form his position as a state execuive councillor.

Azizan said a request by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) that Muhammad Radzhi's services be terminated and he be replaced with another person was also attached to the letter.

"His Highness accepted my letter. We wait for his decision. As long as he does not make a decision Mohd Radzhi is still an exco," Azizan told reporters after handing over the letter at Wisma Zakat here.

Yesterday, Mohd Radzhi announced he was quitting PKR and declared himself as an independent but that he would continue to hold the state's Tourism, Community Development and Human Resources Committee portfolio.

According to Azizan, Sultan Abdul Halim understood the matter after he told him that Mohd Radzhi was no longer a PKR member and was not qualified to be an executive councillor on the PKR quota.

"My meeting with His Highness was pleasant. I hope His Highness will consider the request but I do not know when he will make a decision," he said.

Azizan said Mohd Radzhi's replacement as executive councillor will only be discussed by PKR after the sultan had made a decision.
