ALOR SETAR: A car repossessor was shot dead during a quarrel near his house at the Taman Setia Jaya low-cost flat here at 12.30am on Friday.

Kota Setar CID chief DSP V. Savaranan when contacted, confirmed that M. Nagenthiran, 30, was shot three times, on the head and back.

He said a man in his 30s, believed to be a friend of the victim, had been detained to assist in investigations.

Meanwhile, an eye-witness claimed that prior to the incident, he heard loud voices and saw the victim quarreling with some men.

He then heard a loud sound, which he suspected was a pistol shot, and contacted the police.

Meanwhile, the victim's wife G. Parameswary, 29, said she and her two children, aged three and five, were sleeping at the time and were not aware of the incident until police came to inform her. - Bernama
