March 13 gathering to discuss Hindu issues

PETALING JAYA: A gathering has been planned on March 13 to discuss economic, religious, political, education and social issues affecting Malaysian Hindus.

The gathering will be held at the KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall between 3pm and 7pm.

Hindu Malaysia Agenda Task-force, a coalition of 72 Hindu non-governmental organisations, said it would bring up several de-mands.

They include creating a Hindu Malaysian Development Corporation, the call for a common entrance exam for public and private universities and making it clear that places of worship should not be demolished without proper consultation.

Other demands include a call to amend the Constitution to ensure that a child cannot be converted without permission from parents or guardians, and for the child to determine his own religion upon reaching the age of majority.

Spokesman V.K. Regu said those attending would also be given motivational talks.

He said a memorandum with their list of demands would be sent to Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat parties.

“We have voiced these demands over the past five years to politicians from both sides but nothing has been done,” he said yesterday.

I think you're racist and religious fanatic, in Malaysia we think as Malaysians first and our religion should personal as an Hindu force hoping to make an impact at 62/148 seats is just a dream. It does not matter whether you're Hindu, Christian, Buddist or etc development of religion and faith should be carried out on moderate level in a country like Malaysia with continous improvement. There is no need to challenge others about your religion. If this is something to do with faith and paryers then do it at one of the biggest temple, why in the chinese assembly hall. What happens if the muslims, christians, Buddists too were to organize similar rallies and talk about another portion of seats that can be determined outcome of results. In my opinion Hindus / Indians have lost their voices is due to lack of co-operation, devided by strong caste system and various other ill feelings such as rich and poor. You're responsible for your own destination through your own actions. Don't blame others for your calamity, why there are 72 Hindu based organizations and what were their contributions or achievements in the last 50 years?
