Sivarraajh Back As MIC Youth Secretary

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 (Bernama) -- Suspended MIC Youth secretary C. Sivarraajh (rpt) Sivarraajh has been reinstated, said MIC Youth chief T. Mohan.

He said the decision to reappoint Sivarraajh was made at the MIC Youth executive committee meeting last night at the party headquarters here. Sivarraajh has served out a four-month suspension from the party.

"The appointment is with immediate effect. He was reappointed after consultation with our (MIC) president Datuk G. Palanivel.

"With the reinstatement, we hope he can continue to focus on his work, especially in our preparations to face the general election," Mohan told Bernama when contacted Tuesday.

Sivarraajh was initially suspended for 12 months from Aug 17 after he alleged the party had acted against its constitution by readmitting those who have been sacked by the top leadership.

This involved three Central Working Committee (CWC) members, K.P. Samy, G. Kumar Amaan (rpt) Amaan and Deputy Youth leader V. Mugilan, who were sacked for launching a movement to oust then president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

The party then suspended Sivarraajh for one year and appointed an interim secretary, P. Punithan.

However, Sivarraajh appealed against the suspension and the party's CWC reduced his suspension to four months. His suspension ended on Dec 31 last year.
