PETALING JAYA: An Umno division leader warned that the party is swarming with Brutus-like fiends, who have sharpened their daggers for the Julius Ceasars, including Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
In view of this, the Titiwangsa division leader called on the Umno president to act against these individuals or risk seeing the party destroyed.
The leader, who declined to be named, was commenting on the controversial video clip of Titiwangsa Umno acting division chief Johari Abdul Ghani's speech at a closed-door meeting.
Johari had come under fire for his remarks that if Umno could secure 70% of Malay votes, then it did not need Chinese or Indian votes to win the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat.
The division leader claimed that it was a “Brutus” who had recorded the clip and posted it on YouTube.
“This is the work of a Brutus wanting to kill Julius Ceasar. This Brutus wants to kill Johari's political career,” he told FMT.
“The Brutus have become very bold now, to the point of exposing things mentioned during closed-door meetings,” he said.
'Brutus in Putrajaya'
According to the leader, “there were many Brutus in Umno now” and he asked if Najib was aware of the situation.
“In Putrajaya itself, Najib is surrounded by these Brutus who want to kill his career,” he said.
Yesterday, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek took Johari to task over his remark, saying that the incident revealed that some Umno division leaders were not bright.
Calling on such leaders to retire from politics, he said that Johari's stand did not reflect the views of Umno's top leadership.
Several Umno division leaders had also criticised Johari, saying that his remarks went against the Barisan Nasional principles and Najib's 1Malaysia concept.
