PJS 1 Rumah Panjang residents were asked to move out from their homes by the Selangor government due to development project to be started in that area. From their original houses on government land they have been moved to three different temporary longhouses. Had they been Malay muslims they would most probably have been granted individual housing lots or Rancangan Kampung Tersusun (RKT).
The PJS 1 residents, on HRP’s advise, are demanding low cost homes and RM 500 per month for rentals until the new flats are built for them. And they made decision not to move out without anything in black and white from the Selangor state government. As compensation for waiting two more years as promised by the state government they agreed to receive RM14,285 per family.
Even under the present PKR led Selangor state government, like the previous UMNO regime only another temporary and the usual piecemeal solution for Indian victims is offered.
