KUALA LUMPUR: The MIC is expected to take disciplinary action against central working committee (CWC) members K.P. Samy and G. Kumar Aamaan who had called for the resignation of party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.
“Both are trouble makers and have been a nuisance to the party. They have not made any positive contribution,” a senior MIC official said.

K.P. Samy is an ardent supporter of former deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam while Kumar is one of two elected representatives from the Youth wing.
The MIC has 29 elected CWC members – 23 are from the national MIC, two each from the Youth and Wanita wings and one each from the Putera and Puteri wings. Seven other members are appointed.
At a press conference, K.P. Samy and Kumar had asked the party to hold an extraordinary general meeting to decide whether Samy Vellu should remain as president.
The official pointed out that the MIC constitution forbade a member from making any statement which was detrimental to the party or which was against its policies and objectives.
The official also said the CWC had once issued a warning to K.P. Samy for attending an opposition function last November.
MIC vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan said party members should refrain from asking the president to resign.
“The MIC is not a coffeeshop for anybody to take over overnight or to be given up overnight. It is the one and only structured Indian party of 600,000 members,” he said.
He said Samy Vellu, who is serving his last term ending in May 2012, had announced that he would vacate his seat earlier so that his successor would have the time to strengthen the party for the next election.
“I think it is a very fair and generous decision,” he said.
MIC Youth chief T. Mohan said Kumar was making a statement on his own accord.
“He was supposed to represent the Youth wing in the CWC but he ignored the movement after being elected last September,” he said.
Kumar and P. Shanmugam were elected as the representatives from the Youth wing to the CWC.
Mohan said MIC Youth would recommend stern action to be taken against Kumar for his “irresponsible” statement.

KLANG: The call for MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu to step down now has gained momentum with two high ranking MIC leaders joining sacked Youth deputy chief V. Mugilan in making a similar demand.
MIC central working committee (CWC) member K.P. Samy said Samy Vellu had overstayed his tenure as party president and must leave for the MIC to recover from its current predicament.
“We lost heavily in the last general election and have also lost the support of the community that we profess to represent.
“The MIC is in bad shape and to rejuvenate it, Samy Vellu has to leave,” added K.P. Samy.
Samy Vellu had announced at the Federal Territory MIC delegates' conference recently that he would quit as party president in September next year.
K.P. Samy also said that an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) should be called to decide on Samy Vellu's position as president.
“Let the delegates decide if they want him to remain as president or want him to leave as soon as possible,” said K.P. Samy.
“Other Barisan Nasional component parties are making various changes but Samy Vellu is still talking about destroying people.”
He was referring to Samy Vellu's recent statement that he would destroy the people who tried to destroy the party, namely two people living in Kuala Lumpur and Klang.
It is said that he was referring to Klang-based businessman Ohms Thiagarajan and former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam.
In Petaling Jaya, CWC member G. Kumar Aamaan also called for Samy Vellu's early resignation. He said Mugilan's sacking was a way for Samy Vellu to silence his critics.
Kumar said Mugilan should not have been sacked for voicing his opinion.
“Maika Holdings cannot even be managed properly, how can he (Samy Vellu) even manage the Indian community?”
“I dare him to sack me after this,” Kumar said when contacted.
He said that if he was sacked, he would hand a memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak or the King to explain the situation in the party.
“The Prime Minister won the Hulu Selangor by-election for the Indian community, not Samy Vellu,” Kumar added.
“Both are trouble makers and have been a nuisance to the party. They have not made any positive contribution,” a senior MIC official said.

Two more call for Samy to quit
