Late Former Al Arqam Leader Ashaari Buried In Rembau Village

REMBAU, May 13 (Bernama) -- Former leader of the banned Al Arqam movement, Ashaari Muhammad who died in Ipoh this afternoon was buried in Kampung Pilin, here, at about 10pm.

The remains of Ashaari, 73, arrived in a private car at the village where he came from, at 8.30pm and then taken to the village surau to enable his relatives and members of the public to pay their last respects.

A funeral prayer was held before the late Ashaari was buried at the cemetery next to the surau.

About 1,000 people attended the burial.

Ashaari, who was fondly called Abuya by his followers, died at the Ipoh Specialist Hospital in Perak at 2.10pm, three days after he was warded at the hospital for lung infection.
