Announcing Date For Take Over Will Avoid Speculation - MP

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- An independent Member of Parliament wants Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to announce the actual date for the handing over of the Prime Minister's post to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to avoid rumours and speculation.

Datuk Ibrahim Ali (Bebas-Pasir Mas) said due to the uncertainty of the issue various questions and speculations has kept the people guessing and had also weakened the share market.

"Although the date is said to be in March, a lot of questions remain unanswered while the media had been speculating various probabilities.

"I believe it had also attributed to a volatile situation in the Bursa Saham Kuala Lumpur (BSKL) although the global economic crisis had been blamed," said Ibrahim while debating on the Supplementary Supply Bill 2009 at the Dewan Rakyat here Tuesday.

In an unrelated issue, Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur) said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam should resign as the chief Minister since he has been found guilty of money politics by the Umno Disciplinary Board and barred from contesting the Umno deputy president's post.

Meanwhile, Hamim Samuri (BN-Ledang) proposed that the petrol rebate for car owners, be maintained although the retail price of petrol has dropped.
