KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- With the 13th general election
around the corner, Umno Disciplinary Board chairman Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad
Rithauddeen has reiterated his call to members to refrain from
sabotaging the party.
He said the board would take stern action against Umno members who betrayed the party in the run-up to the general election.
"Tough action, including possible dismissal and suspension from the party will be taken against saboteurs," he said in a statement.
Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen said the board had appointed a watchdog in every parliamentary and state constituency to monitor and report any elements of sabotage in the party.
He said Umno had also set up a special committee to speed up cases against errant party members suspected of being involved in acts of sabotage and treachery, and violation of party discipline in the run-up to the general election.
The committee is made up of four supreme council members and four disciplinary board members, he added.
