MIC Youth chief: Palanivel could restore people’s confidence

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 — MIC Youth chief T. Mohan believes newly-minted MIC president Datuk G. Palanivel could make the difference in restoring the people’s confidence in the party.

He said Palanivel would take measures for the betterment of the Indian community like his predecessor Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

Asked if Palanivel (picture) would be a better leader, he said: “We have to wait and see.”

Speaking to reporters after performing special prayers at the Batu Caves temple near here today, Mohan also said Palanivel would announce his plans for transparency in the party at the central working committee meeting on January 15.

Palanivel took over as the new MIC president last month after Samy Vellu, who had led the party for over 31 years, stepped down.

As for him, Mohan said he would focus on getting more Indian youths recruited in the government this year. — Bernama
