’45 days for 45-pg show-cause letter’

PETALING JAYA: Vocal PKR’s Padang Serai MP N Gobalakrishnan has been slapped with a 45-page show-cause letter this aftenoon.

Contacted by FMT later, he said he would request the party to give him 45 days to furnish his reply.

“I’ll be asking for a 45-day extension to respond,” he said, adding that the letter demanded a reply from him within two weeks.

According to Gobalakrishnan, the party wanted him to explain why he had openly critised the PKR leadership.

However, the Padang Serai MP refused to tone down. “I will continue raising people’s problems,” he said.

Asked on the possibility of him leaving the party, Gobalakrishnan denied that he would be doing so.

In recent weeks, Gobalakrishnan had used Twitter to voice his disgruntlement towards party supremo Anwar Ibrahim and other leaders.

The Twitter tirade intensified following Gobalakrishnan’s failure to secure the position of vice- president in the party elections.

More fury was unleashed when PKR appointed lawyer N Surendran as vice-president, who was criticised for not representing the Indian community and not being able to speak Tamil fluently.

In his most recent Twitter message, Gobalakrishnan questioned Anwar’s motive behind the closure of a Hindu temple in Bukit Gasing.

Earlier, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution confirmed that Gobalakrishnan was given a show-cause letter to explain the latter’s outbursts on Twitter.

“This (show-cause letter) is a normal procedure when there are party leaders who continuously attack the party without going through the proper channels,” he was quoted as saying.
