Motorists Caught In Massive Traffic Jams As City Folks Return Home

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Massive traffic jams occured at several main stretches on the North-South Expressway (NSE) as motorists returned to the city after celebrating Aidilfitri.

Plus Traffic Control Centre executive officer Juhaimy Harun said they include from Tapah rest area to Slim River where thousands of vehicles were caught in a traffic jam stretching 47.5 kilometres.

"Traffic was at a near standstill while traffic from Simpang Pulai to Gua Tempurung and Butterworth to Juru was slow moving," he told Bernama.

Congestion was also reported at Bukit Gantang lay-by to Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Perak rest area while the south was from Seremban rest area to Nilai.

The Malaysian Highway Authority reported slow traffic at KM114.2-KM112.0 between Juru and Bukit Tambun as a car had landed into the emergency lane.

Its website also said traffic was also slow from Juru to Bukit Tambun, Jelapang tunnel to Ipoh and South Rawang rest area to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
